  1. After checking out the diagrams...it's only showing 1 spreader spring...but if you roll the mouse over the item number, it says two required. Call Courtesy and verify the location/quantity of the spring (# 32602). Make sure you've got the diagram in front of you, haha. They've got a friendly staff, and a lot of parts are available through them with quick shipping. Depending on your application, the price ranges from $1.09-3.61. http://www.courtesyparts.com/300zx-parts-z31-1984-1989/genuine-nissan-parts/power-train/322-transmission-gear/-c-2317_2318_2391_2406.html
  2. I'm not positive, but I believe those spread springs hold the three shifting inserts in place when they are installed on the 3rd/4th synchronizer hub. There are 2 inserts placed on the left side of the hub (if looking at the pic), and the third on the other side of that same hub. If you look at the pic, the are 3 gaps within the teeth of the hub. That's where they are placed. Underneath the spread spring "arrow", they show a shifting insert below it. That's what goes in those slots. I hope this helps.......and in my opinion, if it's in the diagram, it should be installed, especially on the tranny.
  3. It's already been rebuilt....I just need to drain it and swap the filter. So is everyone else just as confused about this ID as I am?? Hehe Help!
  4. I was looking into buying a 700R4, the owner says it's from an 84 Z28, but the ID is confusing to me. I've looked at all the posts/links I could about how to read them, but it seems like nothing matches the numbers I have for this. The numbers down by the pan are... 8676358 ... and a 26 above it... the numbers on the tag read... top right... 08681732... Toledo... 3AFM.. and under that are.. 61(?)AFMY10164956 .. the 3rd number I'm not sure of, the tag has a crease in it and cant be read. Can someone please decipher this ID for me?? It's not that I don't trust the owner, it's just that I've never dealt with this tranny before, and I want to make sure everything makes sense. Thanks for your help.
  5. It really looks good so far. Would you mind making a spec sheet for your 283? I just picked one up over the weekend and began stripping it down, so I'm curious about what parts you used to get 350hp. That's my goal for the Z, and I can't seem to find any articles or motor writeups on the 283. Everyone likes to advertise their 350s and up, haha.
