its a long shot but here go's. how is the clutch line? I have had the clutch line swell when you pump the clutch but i dought it would only do it from 1st to second. I had a 78 truck 5 speed on a l18 that reved to 8500 and you couldn't shift from 1st to second over 7000 . I swapped in a zx na trans and had the same problem . I always just figured that L series 5 speeds could not shift between 1st and 2nd over 8 grand .

Byron is awesome he makes good 510 parts
-
I replaced the rear trans seal and trans mount filled the 5 speed with new gear oil . This was a pain since it is cold . Went to Go for a test drive and the battery was dead. Doh!

My sr 510 use to see 205 to 210 on long hard freeway pulls 180 190 normal driving

Looking good. Do you have the part number for the merge collector? I plan to go single eventually as well, I may have to take some elements of your design if you don't mind!
check these out

I have not done it on a z only on my 510's you usualy flang the rear tail light panel on a dime when you cut the tail light wholes bigger for sss tail lights .
I have a pic of when my buddy flanged my core support for my inter cooler on my dime. All you do is take a body hammer and bend the edge you cut out 90 degreese. Then we use a grinder with a cut of wheel to make the edge you bent straight
this is the only pic i took and it was the first ruf pass if you look close you can see what i am talking about

i still need to do that. I worked on my Z31 CV shafts last night. Got them modified to fit. Now I just need to get the stub axle kit and rear bearing set.
That has to be a record!
use a air hammer it makes life so much easyer. The first time i did it it took for ever
-
did you flang the panel where you cut out . it will strengthen the panel

buy a ka and a z series exhaust gaskets and compare them. that should tell you how close the exhaust ports are.

me and a friend changed my rear wheel bearing's an hour and 10 minutes later good ass new !

good job man

voltron that car is sexy !
-
this is how 510 guys do it scroll down 4 or 5 pages
-
Got it ! It was the c clip type. Thanks guys ! The stub is out and the dog bone and stub shaft is no longer one. Lol
-
I guess I spent to much time trying to get it out. Because I never even thought about pulling off the other side and checking lol
-
So I put a r 200 in my 510 and I broke a u joint the other day and when the u joint popped the half shaft hit one of the mounting bolts and now I can't get the nut off. But I can't remember if the half shaft has a bolt to retain it like a r180 or a snap ring . I figure I will have a better chance of getting the stub shaft off if I can get the whole thing out of the car.
Thanks in advance
Mikey
here is a pic of the carnage lol it could have been a lott worse
