  1. My Name is Anthony and I am starting my search again for a Z. I am looking for specifically a 1973 240Z rolling chassis for my DEVIL-Z Project. I am not really looking for a completely bare Z, I would prefer it had everything in it but the motor and transmission or non running motor. I do plan to swap the motor to a L28ET, hence the wanting of no motor or non running motor. Being a manual would be a plus.

I do live in AZ but am willing to travel if need be. I am not looking for a rust bucket but preferably something that needs some body prep and paint if possible but I will consider others if in good shape. So hit me up please if you have one.

Thank you for your time and help.

  2. I found a company that makes exact replica JDM fender mirrors that are electric and come with an ajustable switch for inside the car. They are not RE-Amemiya. I will try to find the site again. I got it saved on my favorites on my laptop.

  3. Yeah its pricey. I mean when Enari gave me a price for 16x9.5 it was estimated for all 4 wheels at $2,810. So you get the idea for custom 17s.

He also told me he sponsors Formula D Drifter, Taka Aono and he asked for a set of 17s. He also said that there is a lot people in Australians in the import scene wanting them as well. So I figured I would hit up Viczcar.com to drop the subject.

I got already 12 people on the list.

  4. Ok so I checked out Watanabe's site the other day and thought I would hit them up through email for a quote on some custom 17 inch R Type wheels for my 240Z project. Well of course as you know their email doesn't work so I decided to give them a call. I ended up talking with Enari Kiyotaka, a representative for the California shop. I told him what size I was wanting and he said that they don't have 17s available right now. I asked him if they could be custom made and he told me that he would hit up the main office and see. We traded personal emails with one another so he could contact me with the info.

Apparently the only way the main office will supply him 17s to sell is if I ordered 100 sets, (ha... not happening, 4 is expensive enough)which I then told him there is no way that happening but told him I really really wanted them in 17s or I wouldn't buy a set. So he hit up the main shop again. They told him that if he could find 25 PEOPLE that buy 4 wheels in 17 inch they would supply him with 100 sets.

So...I am here to ask anyone serious enough that is truly wanting 17 inch Watanabe R Type wheels, to PM me so I can make a list. Now the catch is that we have to decide on the 2 different setups of the wheels. I was thinking 17x9 and 17x9.5. The offset has to also be decided as well. So please give me some feed back on 1. popular wheel width as well as offset so we can agree and get these wheels ordered.

Again PM me if interested in getting 17s. Thanks for your guys time and help.

  5. So I came across DATSUNRESTORE.COM which is probably a site that you all know of by now. Well anyways I came across a few things that I wanted your guys opinion on. First being how good are their parts that they sell? Second how is reliable are they?

I found some parts that they sell that I might be interested in and wanted to know the quality of them.

  6. throwing caution and common sense to the wind, just run you're exhaust under the tank. Or you could add a wide fuel cell which would give you plenty of room for mufflers and you wouldn't have to worry about heat as much.

Thanks for the info. I'll look into the fuel cell cause I really don't want to worry about heat as well.

  7. I am looking at possibly getting a L28ET "COMPLETE" motor and tranny to swap into my 1973 240Z project. I am located in California so if you have or know someone/somewhere I can get a good condition running "COMPLETE" motor and tranny please hit me up. Thank you for your time and info.

  8. In general (and there are exceptions), brake caliper/rotor combinations designed for computer controlled ABS equipped cars tend to not be balanced front to rear if the ABS pump and computer are taken out of the system. For your plans the Modern Motorsports PBR or the Arizona Z Car Wilwood brake systems are a better choice.

See I did not know that. LOL. I looked into those and it has been in the back of my mind whether or not to go with a setup something like that. I just want to do it right the first time and not have regrets and have to do it over again.

  9. I am days away from getting my new 1973 240Z project car. One of the first things I want to upgrade is my brake setup.

I know I want to go with a 5 lug conversion and since I love performance I wanted to go with much larger calipers like 4 piston Brembos. I have been hearing nothing but great things when it comes to the new 370Zs brake setup. So I have been researching as much as I can to see if its possible to convert my 240Z with the 370Zs 5 lug (5x114.5) and front and rear caliper setup.

The reason behind the brake upgrade for my first modification is because I plan on getting some 17" Watanabe R Type wheels and want to have the brakes done to get the right bolt pattern for the wheels as well as the right offset. Any info on this topic would be great help for my.

Thanks for your guys time and info.

  10. Yeah still looking for one. Money got a bit more tight so the most I will be spending is between $2500 give or take a few. As for as motor goes, I don't really care how many miles it has on it because I plan on swapping it out, but it must be a running vehicle until I figure out or have money for a swap.

  11. There has been a 240z targa.

As i recall there was something with laminating of the glass making them shatter. All i have seen is an old advertisement showing T-tops for a 240Z as an aftermarket accessory. The ad was from the early 70's. It only had a picture and did not say who the maker was.

There was thread about it on zcar.com over 2 years ago, what i do know is that they are NLA.

I wasn't thinking of a targa top like on the 280ZX. So there would be no glass involved. I was thinking like a targa top from a Toyota Supra (MK III or MK IV)
