  1. SO im trying to figure out what this sensor does/plugs into. Its on the left of the detonation sensor(the circle with two bullet connectors) this one looks kinda like a reverse CHTS plug, instead of going over the sensor it would plug into it. pretty sure its not for the Injector blower fan, thought its only plugs were to the ones in line with the radiator lines.. I know this is probably a crap shoot with out pictures so ill try and get one up soon.

  2. Okay I've been having a weird problem lately. I was going 75 then let it coast on the freeway then my car died. i turned it back on and it sputtered a little then was fine. It seems to mainly happen when i rev it hard and let off the gas. I dont have a bov or any of the idle equipment hooked up, its pretty much stock. I thought it might be vapor lock, but it'll restart relatively easily.. Any Ideas?

  3. Well there isnt much room for the turbo afm to fit in normal. So, from a post Tony D said it didn't matter so i flipped it. Yeah i got a buddy whos swapping a turbo in a zx ill see if i can borrow it. Could the gravity of it being up side down open the flapper enough to give bad ohms readings? But i will retest it...

  4. Okay so finally got a chance to look at the electrical. I did the 81 FSM troubleshooting for the afm and tps. The AFM failed the first test, 33-26 resistance was 203 when suppose to be 280-400, and 33-31 was 153 when it should've been 0or infinite. but passed second test. then failed the third(or from the shitty harbor freight tester: never moved. I checked the flap and it moves fine. I DO HAVE THE AFM UPSIDE DOWN, thought it doesnt make a difference. The tps passed fine, might be a lil out of adjustment though. Also checked the CHTS at ecu and didnt get anything but infinity when i checked the pin... Its a new sensor. So, Anybody have any ideas on any sensors?

  5. Well, heres the deal. My 280z Turbo is having some problems... There is a ticking that has progressively gotten worse. I did a valve adjustment but its still there. Its really loud when there's a load on the engine. There's gas in the oil and its only got 160k. So should i just tear it apart and to a full rebuild? It gets around 8-10 mpg, no green light on ecu but brand new O2(is the ecu in closed loop)? Im going crazy its my dd and gas is killing me... Tempted to just throw megasquirt on it but the motor was some problems.... Any Suggestions?

  6. Like all of you I cant get enough of my Z, but with gas so high it is killing my enjoyment since ive been daily driving it. 8-9mpg is pretty bad by any standard. So, want do you guys drive as a dd or whats a good idea for around $2k? I have been looking into 1st gen 4runners, but still not good on gas. looking for something to have fun...camping in but still get over 20 mpg. not a big fan of econoboxes

    Thanks

  7. Hi

I now there's a lot of z enthusiasts in oregon and im hoping someone knows of a reputable shop for Z's. I need someone to look over my z that i swapped in a l28et and its starting to act up. thinking maybe turbo leaking, and it has a high idle 1300rpms. Although i did remove the vcm,egr...

    any helps is always appreciated.

  8. Alright, so i was taking off my intake on the 82zxt motor and to my horror i see an ez-out broken in the #6 stud spot and a new bolt tapped, crappily in next to it. The new bolt looks like a M6 so not the strongest. Im wondering what are my options? If i bring it to a machine shop can they remove the ez-out or should i just get them to fix the ghetto m6 bolt? by re-taping it?

    Thanks for any advice

  9. I got a quick question, If I bought a -10AN banjo fitting and used the the bolt from the M18x1.5 banjo fitting would it work or would the sizes be to different. Debating on just making new hoses, Or could i cut the stock banjo lines and splice it to a new hose somehow??

  10. Shodaimex I think im in the same boat as you. I just bought the oil cooler with the stock lines but it doesn't fit anywhere with them on my 280z. So im gonna keep the banjo line withe the weird square and just Make my own line off of it, seems the easiest way. Guessing since the fittings are M18x1.5 that itd be that but no idea what it is in AN.

  11. Alright guys you're the best. I remember pressing the turbo collar onto the throwout bearing, so that shouldn't be the problem. thank god cause i dont wanna drop the tranny again. So are all the slave cylinders the same, Should i buy one for the 280z with 4spd or the turbo 5spd. Or does it even make a difference?

  12. Hello,

So my 280z that i swapped a 82 zxt motor in it is having problems with shifting. Curently i am using the 4spd from the 280z. When i swaped the motor i put in a new exedy turbo clutch/pressure plate whole shebang. Now when i try and shift it is impossible without jamming it into gear sometimes. Reverse grinds no matter what. ive bleed the system once but still might be air. My question is is it worth the 100 to buy a new slave and master cylinder?? Also, are the fork that engages the bearing the same on both years, cant remember what one i used.
