  1. So i just read this whole thread this, first off i am very sorry to here about you loosing your father. You must have great courage i have no idea what i would do if i lost my father he means the world to me.

     

     

    I think you are doing a great job on this forum it is something that is long overdue. I really wish i had your knowledge on cars where did you learn at.

  2. Man, Come down to Indianapolis. There is a z car club down here. I haven't actually personally met any of the guys but there are a few guys down here. MAG58 Lives in Bloomington, there is a z owner in Fishers, has a turbo 280zx that his dad drove off the showroom floor. If you weren't like an hour and 40 away I would offer to come help. The z's are around. I saw an amazing orange one with Pansports Downtown Indy. Loving it guys, Z-aholics unite!

  3. i have been having thoughts about giving up on my z and just buying a fast car of some sort, but within 5 minutes of reading i have been inspired to not abandon my dream. Most night that i sleep i am dreaming about zs, i have this same dream all the time, it is where i have a 240z pearl dark blue and tinted windows with panasports, it has a l28et and i am driving into my school parking lot everyone is standing out side of there cars in groups talking to there friends and as i roll in everone one is just staring at me as i roast the tires off and the rev limiter is poping and cracking as i scream through the parking lot and i drift into my parking spot as the i let off the gas the blow off valve pops and i wake up and realize its just a dream. Then i lay in bed and wish to have another dream of the same nature. I truly love zs i don't know what i would do with out them, is seems like not other car is adequate after seeing a z. I actually hurts my feelings when someone talks down about a z. My friends tell me sometimes ( when i start talking about zs)if there so great why don't you ever see them. they just don't understand, they are so rare around this part of the country, sometimes i wish i lived in California just because of the zs

  4. WOW, i know what you mean. I love s30's and only s30's, if i could make a shop only for z's i would i love them so much. It seems like nobody knows about them around me and when i talk about them nobody seems to understand why i like them so much. I actually get made fun of for how much i am obsessed with them. I am so obsessed i saw one the other day and i was hanging my head out the window of my truck just trying to get a glimpse of it before it drove away. That is the only z i have seen in my area. I could talk all day about them. I wish more people were educated about them i even feel like we need a z awareness month. I cant get enough of them.

  6. I am looking for 240z with swap already done, possibly unfinished project if everything is there to complete it. I dont mind what swap it is im not in to 4cylinder swaps, more rb25 or 1jz. I like v8s too, i basically want a clean 240z with 350whp.

    You need to think of component cost as well. A fully dressed [manifolds, turbo, injectors, tranny, Flywheel, clutch, etc] L28ET can be had from less than $500, usually not going over $1,000 for a stock setup.

     

    A 2JZ-GTE + Getrag [good luck finding one for less than a grand ;)] is going to be super expensive, especially fully dressed.

     

    N/A 2JZs are everywhere and you can get them for cheap [my roommate bought one out of a GS300 for $400], but you're going to have to get N/A-T turbo manifolds, a R154 tranny, and the proper bellhousing. After fab mount parts and engine management, you're looking at a hefty bill.

     

    There's a reason I went with the L28ET, and it wasn't because it looks pretty or makes the best power. It's darn cheap!

    ok so u have me very interested in the turbo 28, my original plan was to put a n/a l28 making about 200hp but decided against it when i realized it would be alot for one that is rebuild and what not. So can u give me the details to the turbo l28 can i make 350whp.Thx

  9. No offense, why bother with 350 whp. The 280zx turbo motor can make this alot cheaper(alot less hassle too).I have one laying on the side of the house that came out of my 73. You should really search this forum alot more. Plenty of members making these numbers with the zx motor.

     

    I would rather have the more up to date motor but I will look

  10. You can use the R154 (5-spd) it is from the 7M-GTE Supra but can be used on a JZ series with a bellhousing and a 7M clutch and JZ flywheel i believe...all of which you can find over at Driftmotion.com as well if you check the 1jz/2jz swap section.

    I must be confused I was looking at engines on ebay 1/2jz "not that I would get one from there but just to get an estimate of prices" and I saw a lot with manuals are u saying I can't use the stock 1jz tranny for a s30 swapm tyy to bare with me I am new to jzs I am kind of an) guy or atleast I now a lot more about them.

  11. I have a question for you; what do you want out of your car?.. I won't lie my 1jz 62-1 swap has lag but even with my lag the car is crazy fast. 0-60 I'm not worried about any v8 believe me... and 0-100 i might be able to take a c5 z06..lol not sure...Plus i like the fact i can cruise out of boost and save on gas and it's not like the car is gutless out of boost the s30 is a light car. Most people don't realize that deepening on how you drive and traction you can get a s30 in the 11's with only 300-325whp..

     

    Now to answer your question, the 1jz and 2jz are similar when swapping. They both require custom motor/cross member mount. Both need custom trans mount.etc The 2jz is about 1-2 inches taller than the 1jz. hummmm they both can use the r154 trans from a mk3 supra(86.5-92 supra turbo)If you get a US r154 trans you will need a jdm bell housing( $300-$400) Which is the reason most just get a jdm motor set comes with motor and trans..the jdm 2jz comes with an auto trans.

     

    Which to choose, it's up to you..In the long run both engines will both cost nearly the same..so in that case i guess the 2jz is the better choice..For me i love my 1jz and for my power goals the little money saved going with the 1jz is worth it to me. In the end like already said, all these engines are great in their own way..

    So are u saying if I did a 2jz I would have no choice but automatic (by the way I am not going to do auto I know automatics can be better for high horsepower cars but I just don't want to go that route). So why won't the japan 5speed not work. By the way I'm going to try to make 325 350 wheel hp. Thx I apreciate your help

  12. I will try to keep my grammar a little more legible, i know what you mean by saying you couldn't understand what i wrote. I did do some research on this forum "Toyota l6" and i didnt really find some other questions i had im not asking to be spoon-fed but can you maybe direct me to a good thread to read. I was wondering about what the 1jz should come out of if it matters.
