I have fitted the new 3" core copper rad and my problem is solved. Open road temp 190 and the max stop go temp 198.

Sorry, should have mentioned that my current Alum Rad has a 1 and 9/16 core size almost max for our local standard cores. The copper Rad will be 3 and 9/16 as it is custom made.
Might be a bit of an over kill, but I do not want any more overheating.
Will collect it tomorrow.

I have the same problem with my 280ZX. No problem on open road, but stop, go and the needle starts climbing. I have two electric push fans and a solid engine driven suction fan, shrouded sealed around the radiator, tried different thermostats, tried different electric fans, played with the timing curve (Pro-Flo EFI) and nothig works. No air pocket problems as filling point is the highest. (See pic's in member gallery)
I am in the process of getting a custom copper radiator made up as the allunimum one does not seem to do the work (Cost of $750 - thats how fed up I am with this problem) . Will have it fitted by this weekend and give feedback.

Hi,
I took the standard L28 mounts, removed the rubbers modified them and connected the standard Chev mounts on top of them.
See photos in Member gallary.

Hi,
I made all the mounts myself. I took the old L28 mounts, removed the rubber and welded a flat piece over the top with a pipe to fit the Chev mountings. (See member gallery for foto's). The gearbox mount is for a 200-4R.
The driveshaft is from a Ford Falcon (made shorter - aluminium). The yokes I took from a Holden Commadore/Senator, had to modify the rear one.Acc. cable from a VW, will take some foto's.
Don't hesitate to ask, I will help where I can.(Also a RHD)

I have a Art Carr built 200-4R in my 1981 280ZX. The only thing I don't like about the gearbox is the fact that it shifts about 400 RPM lower as the gears shift up (2nd at 5200, 3rd at 4800 & 4th at 4400).
I am not sure if this is always the case. I just manual overide when doing a 1/4 mile (14.4s) 3500lb car with 250hp crate motor.

Here in South Africa where V8's are not so common, I did have some help as I am a member of the Eastern Rod & Custom Club. 90% was done alone and 10% with some club members help.

Finally!!
It took me two years, with no JTR manual only the archives, but it was worth it.
1981 - 280ZX, 350 Goodwrench Crate Motor, Edelbrock 3500 EFI, 226 Crane Cam, 200 - 4R ArtCarr Gearbox. I have posted photos - gallery.
Any Q? let me know.

I used the standard 280ZX shifter, modified the slots to give all 4 forward gears by welding the old slots closed and cutting new slots with a pencil grinder.Added two micro swithes for inhibit and reverse lights. Will take photo's this weekend and place them.
Looking for pics of 280zx sbc custom mounts.

I removed the rubber from the old ZX mounts and welded them up to attach to the chev. mount. See pics in member gallery.
