  1. I have factored in suspension and such, the car has some rust but its all surface rust. Very easily removed. I'm not familiar with SBC or JTR, could you elaborate?
  2. Okay, So I am finally able to restore my 79 280zx and have decided that while im gutting it to restore it I might as well swap a motor into it, Im kind of back and forth between an RB25 and a V-8. I've done some research but I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice? a good motor to swap in without much fabrication, pros and cons of v-8s, things like that. This is my first major swap so i dont want anything too difficult. Perhaps a list of things i'll need for the swap? fuel injected V-8s vs. carbed? help please? oh, and im on a 25K budget for it so im not going to be dropping anything too extravagent in it. Thanks all
  3. Have double checked all of the above already, wasnt any of those. I'm almost positive that im not getting power to the pump due to the fact that there wasn't any fuel in the pump or the lines directly connected to the pump when i checked on it. looking more and more like relays in my opinion. am i overlooking anything?
  4. I have no fuel pressure whatsoever. my fuel lines were all completely dry. i think it was trying to start cause of the starter fluid i put in it. perhaps it is a relay?
  5. So this has been a bit of a struggle and now I could really use some help. My Z is not getting any gas for some reason. I have replaced the fuel pump because that was what the owner said needed to be done to make it run. After that I discovered that there were holes in the gas tank. After that I replaced the spark plugs, air filter and fuel filter. After the car still didn't start I replaced all my hoses thinking I had a vacuum leak, and while replacing hoses I realized that my fuel lines were completely dry. So after that I figured I must have hooked up the wrong wires to the wrong terminals to my fuel pump. But that also did not work. Does anyone have any ideas? please help....
  6. And I'd thought about a fuel cell for a while, but not really want i want to do. I want to keep the body as stock looking as possible and i don't wanna open my hatch to fill up every time lol
  7. That would be absolutely fantastic! please do let me know. it would save me so much time and effort!
  8. So about a week and a half ago i bought a 79 ZX. The car was in pretty great shape, interior was all good, not much rust and all of it was surface rust so not too bad a fix. It had sat for a year but had driven well before that, have receipts for engine re-build and the new clutch. The car didnt run and the only reason being it needed a fuel pump. so I did the fuel pump on it and put some gas in it only to discover that I have a few holes in my gas tank. I tried using a gas tank sealer, it was this epoxy like thing, but to no avail. I have been busting my butt to find a tank with no luck. My friend drives a 76 280Z and happens to have an extra gas tank laying around from a z that he stripped for parts. I know that the gas tank is mounted in the same place, but mine is 2 gallons bigger, will his still mount up okay? does anyone know? or does anyone know where i can get another gas tank for a reasonable price? Thanks much!
