  1. As title states.

Here is the information on the Subaru:

This is located in Santa Clara, CA but moving back to San Fernando Valley in SoCal within the next month.  Can show car anytime.

Hate to see this thing go, but I have way too many cars to keep it.  I bought this about 2 years ago when the car had 55k+ miles on the body.  I am the 3rd owner.  Last owner toss a rod and decided to rebuild the motor at 50k miles on the body.  He got it done through a friend and spent loads of money on it.  When I bought it, the car ran decent but was not tuned.  I put on another 8k on the motor and out of nowhere, pop, motor dies on me.  Took it to GST Motorsport and they took it apart and found that the connecting rod cap was not torque properly and it threw the rod.  Luckily, the head was still in good shape.

New motor was built by GST Motorsports, Hayward, CA with factory Suburu STi 2.5 block, oil pump, water pump, and fresh gasket set.  Head work, fitment, and installation all performed by GST Motorsports. Refer to list below for all the additions.  The ’06 STi drive-train was taken from a salvaged STi with 24k+ miles on it.

Currently the motor and clutch has 16k+ miles on it.  Chassis has 79k+ miles on it.  STi Drive-train has 40k+ miles on it.  Brakes has 10k+ miles on it.  Check engine light is on for code 44 – Small EVAP leak.

This is a great car and needs a great home.  Still could be a lot faster.  This car is my daily and has done numerous trips to LA-SF to visit family.  Never tracked, majority highway miles.

Only cosmetics need work right now:

  2. Got the date locked in for the Modified Mag photoshoot!!! Gonna be this saturday, most likely a beach/ocean location.

I must say im pretty excited, hopefully hell give me the pics he takes in a CD or something so I can post some up :)

Oh damn. Who are you dealing with? Ive shot stuff for modified mag before.

  3. NEW TURBO IS INSTALLED!!!! sadly its been freezing/raining in SoCal and I've been sick as a dog so I've only driving her 5 miles or so. Hopefully I will go for a quick testdrive after work today and give her a little base tune for the added air. I ended up going with a turbonetics 60-1 on a .63 stage 3 turbine. With the little driving I've done I noticed 12 psi or so around 3k rpm, sounds like a diesel turbo winding down from boost :) Ill snap some pictures in the next few days when I get a chance, really busy schedule this week.

Also thanks to Eric from the forum who dropped off my CV axles at my work place today, as soon as my adapters arrive the CV conversion will be over. I aslo got one of the ron tyler mounts and new bearings so the rear end should feel a LOT better after this step is done. The old goat is really starting to come together. After the CV conversion I need to install the alcohol injection and go put down 400 on a quick dyno session :) this should hold me off until I re-coop and figure out the next step I need to take.

Man I'm dying to see ur results with the turbo. How much was the upgrade? Which manifold did u go with?

I feel u about the rain n being sick. I'm in the same boat. My car has just been sitting waiting. Feel better man.

  4. Here's how it looks all done

You won't find the throttle too touchy, I ran it without the idle air controller etc for two summers and its just fine, idles a bit high. There are no issues with modulation either, some will tell you otherwise but I don't find it. My brother has a 280z with tripple 45's and its no worse or better to drive.

    Good luck,

    Chris Crombie

Which exhaust manifold are you running?

  5. Oil relocation kits still have an adapter that screws into our oil filter housing so either way you are screwing something :) I can easily access my filter so I didn't want one but my buddies s14 is using one and its been great. All the oil lines are SS with -an fittings, Headlight are from ebay with a HID conversion.

How big are your lines? I was thinking -8. Is that too big?

Are those headlights the projector ones?

  6. I need a 280z gas tank in decent condition. Looking for something in or around Los Angeles area. But willing to drive/pay for shipping if reasonable and allowable pending gas tank might have limitations to that.

Please let me know what you might have.

    Thanks.

  7. Haha she sounds like a keeper. Always appreciate a lady that can let her man have his fun too.

I understand what youre saying about the oil cooler and having to run it to through the oil filter location. Looks like I may be doing a relocation kit. Would that have any adverse effects compared to the sandwich plates that just mounts to the old spot? Either way, it seems like a lot of plumbing from the right side of motor to front left corner of motor.

Did you run hardlines to that oilcooler or S/S lines?

    BTW, what headlight are those?

That's the old lady lol, shes quite the catch since she deals with the datsun having as much attention as her but they have to share . She calls it "dotty" the not so Fairlady lol

As far as the oil cooler you are going to have to run it with a relocation kit or with a screw on oil filter adapter. Either way they are going to be attaching to your original oil filter location. Reason being is you need to pressurize the system with your oil pump to cause flow through the core. Using the pan wouldn't really do anything, no way of oil getting in or out.

Powder coating cost me a whopping $250 although the guy regretted quoting me that much since my whole subframe and suspension is the same color :) I did my friends engine the same way in orange and they charged $250 for just the engine pieces... still not a bad price.

  8. I just realized I looked like a dirty shop rag when you saw me too, hahaha, I had been working on the car all day and was covered head to toe. I just wanted to get out on a test drive so I hopped in the car looking like a homeless kid

Haha no worries man, you still were with a hot chick!!! Your lady friend?

Hey, I actually had a question about your oil cooler set up. I have the same radiator and trying to figure out the best route to doing the lines. I was thinking getting fittings welded onto my oilpan. How did you do yours?

BTW, how much did you pay for all that powdercoating?

  9. I'll see if I could snap some pics of the fuel setup but its pretty simple. I was originally going to upgrade to a cell or surge tank but I've had no problems with this setup so I might just leave it alone. Pretty much a feed from the original drain of the tank going to a external pump with pre and post filters. Ran new 5/16 feed and return lines following the the factory hardlines (didn't trust the 40 year old lines). Running a stock RB fuel rail (525cc injectors) which is drilled and tapped for a fitting so I can run an external regulator which returns fuel to the original tank pickup so it puts the fuel back in the bottom of the tank. I kept one vent on the tank and one big line which connects to the fuel filler section and got rid of the factory plastic box in the fender which has a billion lines running to it. So far so good, I just keep the tank over a 1/4 tank and have had no issues yet even at the track.

I was probably one of the last few people to get the OEM rear sump oil pans and pickups. I got one locally at Erics Performance when the whole discontinued oil pump situation happened, I guess I just got lucky when I called them and he had one in stock even though they didn't have it listed.

What size pump are you running?

For the one vent on the tank, do you just leave it open?
