  1. Has anyone here done a 5 lug conversion on a zx? Modern motorsports dosen't make a hub for the zx so could a z31 hub conversion work? I would like to convert bolth front and rears to 5 lug and I plan on swaping in a r230 diff and half shafts so I thought a full 300zx rear end conversion could work but I don't know if it would bolt up the control arms or if the 300zx shocks would bolt into the 280zx. I'm not much of a suspension guy so any help would be greatly appreciated!

  2. I'm building up an early 70's 390 FE truck motor for my 79' 280zx, I know the FE idea has been descused alot and I actualy acquired the motor not even knowing what it was until tear down. Anyway just to take it one step further from the usual V8's I'm considering supercharging it. This engine being so uncommon I've yet to find a kit for a BBF, maybe i'm just not looking hard enough. I have considered a vortech set up but am leaning more twards a top mounted supercharger. Anyone have any suggestions for kits, thanks!

  3. I'm in the progress of puting a 390 FE in my 79 280zx, but funding is low right now so it's slow going. I didn't plan on using such an uncommon engine at first but my friend had it lying arround so I bought it off him for $250. I haven't ever heard of an FE in a z before eather so this is turning out to be a very interesting project.

  4. I'm also doing a 390 FE swap that I got for 250 bucks. From the messurements I took It fit with four and a half inches to spare on each side. Grantit I have a 280zx and i've never measured an earlier z's engine bay. I plan on putting atleast 4.5K into the engine and drivetrain. They are great for torque but will probable lack in high end power. If I go with the cam and other upgrades that increase highend power hopefully that will make up for some of it. A ford 9" rear end maybe needed to handle the torque, i'm not sure if the datsun axles could handle it.
