  1. Hello, I am looking to find how to wire up this ignition module appropriately: http://www.megamanua...2/Bosch_124.htm I was originally doing the setup pictured on the website and using a turbo CAS distributor, but the distributor was broken. So now I am going to use an N/A distributor with the mechanical & vac advance disabled and with the original ignition module on the distributor. I just want to use the Bosch module as you would with an HEI 4-Pin module, if it's possible. Thanks. Edit: I may have the VR conditioning circuit installed in my MS2 3.0, but I have to check. If I do, how is that wired up?
  2. Only need the shaft, no Dizzy or Oil Pump. PM with price, thanks.
  3. We were bench testing out of the car. Also I'm assuming Low Impedance is the term, but whatever is the type that uses the resistors, as I said, it used the dropping resistors as stock. We used a 12V power supply to power the MS and to resistors we placed on the DB37 injector output pins since we didn't have Injectors to hook up (wasn't at home), and didn't see anything. Also last night, I tested again as I pulled & used one of the injectors off the car and used one of my dropping resistors (ARCOL 3.3ohm 50W - one for each bank) , still same result, nothing. We followed the schematics here: http://www.msextra.com/doc/general/ms2v3schems.html Tested with O-scope & logic probe back to the CPU from the injector drivers and according to my uncle (This stuff was getting way over my head) the CPU (JP2) was sending a low rather than a high signal for one of the two signals required, from the CPU to the NAND IC (U2), and that was why he assumed it could be corrupt code or something.
  4. We did try using those values while testing and still no output at the DB37 pins.
  5. Hi, I've just come from doing a bunch of testing trying to determine why my injectors aren't firing. IIRC, there were PW & duty cycle readings in TunerStudio while attempting to start the car, yet no actual injecting. The injectors are low-impedance (used dropping resistors stock) I have the PWM stuff installed, but I'm not using it, so my settings were: Injector Open Time: 1.2ms Battery Voltage Correction: 0.1 PWM Current Limit: 100% PWM Time Threshold: 25.4ms (edited wrong value) Injector PWM Period: 40us The unit is an MS2 v3.0 with 3.1.0 extra code. I had taken the MS out of the car a while ago, and at the time I tested with an oscilloscope to see if there was actually a signal to the injectors to fire, but there was nothing at all. Recently, I had my uncle help testing through the MS unit itself, back through into the MS2 CPU and we found, while using Injector test mode, that the output waveform looked correct inside the MS but the signal was too weak (0.15V?) to actually turn on the driver. He said though that the unit seemed fine, but the problem was possibly a code problem. I just reloaded the 3.1.0 firmware onto the board and opened TunerStudio and left it running. The water temp & injector pulse width suddenly changed (didn't happen during the testing previously). They would normally sit at 82*C & 0.0ms, but then temp would jump to like -21 & PW to around 0.160 I don't know if that was merely just a result of having no sensors connected, or a problem after reloading the firmware. Any suggestions on what to check/do next? Thanks.
  6. I don't have a Stim board.
  7. Had a bad ignition module, swapped out for another crappy one and saw some sparks when grounding the coil wire. After the change, cranking timing rose about 4degrees & RPM rose to around 130~ average. Now I find my injectors aren't even firing..
  8. The RPM spike is gone now, I must have not burned the change to Skip Pulses. Anyway, I believe I'm getting closer... learning more as I go, but yet to get past just cranking. The engine isn't even trying to catch and start running. I can smell the fuel, and I assume it's sparking now though I will still check that next time I go out there. The Timing seems correct at the moment (10* while cranking @ 110~ RPM) I'd be appreciative to have someone look over my tune & log and point out anything wrong Tune & Log.zip Pic of the Log inside the zip file: Thanks.
  9. I followed Tony D's info for the same setup with the 72* rotated pulley, with the 120degree tooth just past the sensor (mine isn't as far past the sensor as his so i put 110* rather than 120* like his) (two or three 4* teeth less than his it seems) I went out and had a couple more attempts to start, and the RPM spiking still happens (seems not as high since the changes, or could be a result of lower battery charge from start attempts?) Last attempt left it's mark around 1100-1200 RPM on the gauge. I had changed the Skip Pulses to 5. In my log I posted, the dwell is around 12-13 when the RPM is settling down to 110~. Too high, right? My dwell settings are.. Max Dwell Duration: 3.1 Acceleration Compensation: 1 Maximum Spark Duration: 0.1 Also, is the 110 or so RPM a normal speed for cranking? Thanks
  10. At the time, didn't know quite what to put in there, just concerned with getting any trigger signal. Now I have a fair idea and will do it next time I get a chance to go out. Thanks.
  11. It's an N/A 280zx with 81zxt ignition (pulley mounted CAS). MS2 v3.0 with 3.1.0 extra code. Using Bosch GT40T with power transistor from 81zxt. Ignition Settings So I'll try to change skip pulses to 5 or 6 I guess and get back.
  12. I managed to get an RPM signal and attempted to start. I haven't got good settings yet, but first what concerns me is during cranking the RPM spiked from 0 to 1436 then down to around 110 ish. As a result it assumes it's running while cranking. What would the cause of this be? If I had wired up the CAS incorrectly, would it still read a signal at all? 2011-04-14_17.38.36.zip
  13. Thanks Matt. Now I need to go figure out if I have the CAS wired correctly.
  14. I looked to find replacement from parts store, but closest one seems to be one from RB30 but I read that it also controls dwell I guess I'm just looking for a 4 pin(?) module that doesn't control dwell. Suggestions?
