  1. Ok.... Next issue, for all you obi 1 guys. Runs well when started..... Good crosscounts, 1000k idle tho with no vacuum leaks (pcv valve plugged). My maf is reading around 2k - 2500 with or without it plugged in at idle,and around 1300 or so with key on engine off. Also got a paratic drain ..... Wiring maybe? Not sure y the PCM is seeing airflow with the motor off.
  2. That's exactly what it was. Just got it all back together and took it for a short drive, runs great and the smokes gone. Now onto the next set "too dos" lol.
  3. Ok...... So my compression seems fine. Proceed with intake disassembly to find plenum full of tranny fluid...... Especially by the 6 and 8 runners, where the modulator line is. I've pulled the vacuum line off and it was dry, still is...... But also the only way tranny fluid would get in there.
  4. Hey guys.....my z31 sbc project is throwing thru some loops and I'm wanting some insight. It's an 87-94 305 with an 86 tpi setup. Car runs well but blows more oil smoke than I've ever seen a car do. Bad enough I had it towed home from work. Just got the headers off and both cylinders 6 and 8 are just dripping with oil. All other cylinders are dry. 6 and 8 exhaust valves have 2 intake valves in-between them so I have a hard time Beleiving it to be a headgasket, cracked head, etc. Maybe a shared oil galley somewhere? Also have a hard time believing it could just be valve seals and guides on 2 side by side cylinders and not the others. ..... Gonna take some compression readings before starting the teardown to the heads..... Any ideas? Ty, tim
  5. I did not rebuild the motor before install.... Took a chance with a used tbi 305 out of a 87-94 k1500 that was readily available to get this project started. I tried to drive it home from work this morning and the smoke has gotten much worse. I've been a master tech for a long time and never seen this much smoke out the tailpipe of a car lol. I'm pretty sure I'll be needing a new motor, which is fine.....just not sure what route too take. The tpi setup is a 86 maf. My goal is to have a fun car to hotrod my whole 3 miles to work or the golf course, not win any drag races. Obviously I'd like to have as much power as I can get for the money I'm gonna spend if that makes sense. I'm gonna run a compression test tomorow on the other 7 cylinders..... Only checked cyl 8 due to time..... And was at @130. I should probably make at new post about this, explaining my setup, symptoms, etc. Huh? Getting car towed back from my shop to the house in the mourning..... Just too much smoke too drive
  6. Well crap.... Took first real test drive too work... Blowing some serious oil smoke unfortunately. Happy with how it drove, but noe what to do with the motor problem. Any suggestions? I definately wanna keep the tpi system
  7. Thank you bad, it's just a th350 from a 75 Monte Carlo. Fit snug, but no alterations to the tunnel needed. Was able to make a linkage to keep my shift lever stock also thankfully
