Hi guys, Help - the Z will be on its way to the painter later on this summer and I need to find this spoiler (when you usually end up shipping parts from all over the world, you get used to starting to find them early) I was wondering if somebody could tell me where I can get hold of the front spoiler in the pictures below (links). I found the pictures on an Australian site - emailed the owner and he was kind enough to give me the contact info of a firm in Australia that he said could help me out. I emailed them - but they seem to have ignored me. Somebody also mentioned that they thought it was the Spook from MSA - I've got there old catalog(not the new one) , but I'm not 100% sure - just seems to me that the spoiler in the pictures seems to "wrap" around the corner of the car more...maybe I'm wrong, but it would be great if somebody could confirm this 100% as I have no way of seeing one in real life (unless somebody wants to invite my girlfriend and I to the states for the sommer, And no!, g/f can't travel alone ).. Anyway here are the pics, sorry for my "taking the long winded" aproach around the question. If somebody could help out that would be really great! Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 Pic 4 Pic 5 TIA cheers, Meakin

Zspeed, The dizzy is electronic, however I don't know if it is of a 280zx (never seen one from a 280zx ,and this one came with the engine)- If you need it - I should be able to come up with some close up pics of the dizzy inside the next couple of weeks and post them if that helps? BTW. thanks for the email reply (got the vic.brit. catalog but I'm not shure that's the same one in there - it's got air ducts by the looks of the pic in the catalog) Sorry, I could'nt be of more help Cheers, Meakin

Marty, I'm afraid I don't feel that I know enough about engines to advise reagarding the engine - there are alot of great people on this board with a HUGE amount of know-how - maybe some of them will chime in here? Cheers, Meakin

Actually Len, I transport myself with something much more demanding on a day to day basis - my legs!! We live in the middle of the city - so we really don't need a car for transport. The Z, when it is finished, will be purely for fun. That little bike you see on the picture, we use when we are up in the "sommerhouse" (where the Z is). It comes in VERY handy, when we run out of the invaluble "mechanics thirst killing lubrication" BTW the bike is a 1960-61 Triumph T20t Tiger cub trials bike - and you were right about the seat Cheers, /Meakin

Thanks for the kind words guys When I get around to putting it back together - I figure I'll just go down the "trial and error" road, and eventually - when I'm about 85, I guess I'll get it right ( But be to stiff to get in!)...oh, hold on, just rememberd the "it's not the something or another - it's the journey" phrase... Cheers, Meakin

Marty, I'm sorry, I did not replace the front framerail with any parts from Zeddfindings - I got a local Body man to fabricate some instead. However I was in contact with Charlie regarding the price for 2 front frame rails, and I've just found the old email from him. Here is a part of the email from him : "The front frame rails which extend from the radiator support back to and around the firewall, sell for $399 a pair Canadian. These are like the original and come with proper hole placement and support gussets. They do not include the tension arm cup that is attached to the outside of each. Once installed the floor frame support welds right into these" Keep in mind that this is some time ago, So I don't know if the price still is the same. Keep in mind this is for 2 framerails - I do not know how much it would cost for one. Hope it helps and again - good luck Cheers, Meakin

D*** this is the second time today I forgot to mention somthing in a post If you do decide to repair the body, I would like to recommend Charlie Osborn of Zeddfindings for Floor pans and other stuff, I installed his floor pans and they are A+++. Here is the link: http://web.ctsolutions.com/zeddfind/ Cheers, Meakin

I agree with Tim - get another body. I've just posted pictures of my project on the non-tech board. If you follow the link and use the scroll bar at the bottom of the page you can see some before and after pictures of the Z's rear end. It was alot, no wait,I mean ALOT of hard work to get it back to "rust free". the car has also had the following fixed bodywise ( major rust problem) : Floor pans, Frame rail, under the battery and dog legs. Now the only reason I did all this, was because I'm located in Denmark, and seriously, there is only about 4-5 240z's in the country - so finding another body - for me simply was not an option. Just my 2 cents or - as I'm Danish, my 2 Kroner Good luck, cheers, Meakin

Oh, forgot to mention - comments are more than welcome /Meakin

Hello all, It has been a loooooooooong time since I posted anything, but - just incase anybodys interested, I posted some pictures of "the project" online at the below address. It's nothing compared to some of the HybridZ's some of you guys have (still a straight six). My first goal is to get the car up and running - after that we shall see regarding which way I go performance-wise Anyway here's the link: Pics of the project BTW the pics a pretty big. so be warned!! Cheers, Meakin

opnions on these rims for a 240z?
meakin replied to meakin's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Phil, those wheels look amazing! Thankyou for your kind offer - seams like a bargin to me. However I don't really want to go over 16"x7" on the wheels for a number of reasons(one of them being, as far as I remember, Danish Laws , will not allow me to have wheels on that stick out from under the fender"lip" at all). That's another thing, I don't know if you noticed it, but I'm in Denmark and I think the shipping from the U.S. would be pretty "heavy" . I have a few contacts here and I should be able to get the compomotives pretty cheap....(if you can call it that ) On the other hand, I'm shure you'll have no problem at all selling them on you side of the pond.... As I simply think they are/look great BTW Going 19" wow, gotta' see that....please post some picks as soon as you have them. Thanks guys, cheers, "tryin' to get over a hangover from last nights christmas party, while sittin' in front of the screen"- need coffee . -

Ops, forgot to mention. They are 16" x 7" -
Sooooo what do you guys think? just trying to get past the "polished 5 spoke" look, not that it is bad, just trying to do something "else" Opinions are more than welcome

Hej Jens, As far as I can see , it is the "Darius" Z you can find a lot more on this page: web page One wild Z ! (hope that the URL above came out OK) /Meakin

Thanks Jens, I'll have a look around..

Thanks for the answers guys, they helped me out. Zspeed : you are bang on the buck, that is what my intentions are in the long run, However I'm in Denmark, and 280zx parts are not exactly all over the place...(they can be found....just takes a bit of time I think)...the Z is being restored down to every last nut and bolt...and I just kinda figured I would let it drive around with its own motor for a while before I jumped in with both feet and started "improving" it. That, and there are some strict laws here, regarding modifying cars, that I need to know by heart before I start upgrading....KAZU: Yes, now that you mention it, I to seem to remember reading something about E30 heads on the Fairlady Z, but why would somebody put that on a standard L24 block?...better compression? anyway thanks again guys.. Cheers

Ups, forgot to mention. Regarding the above post, both engines have had about the same amount of usage, so rebuilding the engine that is least worn, isn't a factor. Can anybody point me in the right direction?.....please?
-
Ok guys, due to my lack of knowledge (again)I need a bit of help: I have 2 engines (stock l24's) that I intended to take apart and then build up one of them to go in my 240z, until I'm ready to start modifying the car later. Or at least I think they are both stock ...Both blocks have P30 stamped on them so I guess they are stock. My problem is the heads. One of the heads is an E88 (stamped on it),the one with large valves, the other has E30 stamped on it and has considerably smaller valves?....now I have heard of the E88 and the E31 heads but never heard of the E30 head?..anybody know of the E30 head? and what head would you guys choose to rebuild? TIA Meakin

Drax, well come on over and we can have a couple.... regarding the danish laws about older cars, Well, right now, I can't think of any that annoy me to much regarding the age of cars. However, when it comes to doing any mod's for more Hp, they are very very restrictive. And also very confusing I can't remember them word for word, off hand, but heres an example, it go's something like: If you intend to swap the engine, the new engine is only allowed to have Max 20% more Hp over the stock engine..any more and you have to pay a huge amount of extra tax! However they also state that this does not apply to most "bolt on" mods on a "normal" engine, porting ect. But then I get the feeling, that there definition of "Bolt on" on my defination, are miles apart ! . This is actually one of the reasons I joined you guys....kind of figured when the time comes, I'll translate all the laws I would have to follow, post them on this forum, and then kinda ask.."if you guys had follow these rules, what would you do to modify your engine?" I'm postive one can modify and get quite a lot of ekstra Hp, while still following the rules....I just need the imagination and knowledge...
