  1. You have no chance of a CCW permit here in MD.  We as a may issue state  but the requirements are great and the reasons for isue are so few, they may as well call it a no-issue state.  We also do not recognize any other state's permits.  There are restrictions on semi-auto long guns and mag capacity so check the laws before you get here.

As far as housing, anything in the immediate area of the fort is a no-go.  If you want a generally safe area, short commute, good schools - check out Pasadena, Severna Park, Arnold, Millersville, Crofton, Annapolis, Davidsonville, or Gambrills.  The cost of living is high but, hey, you're comming from Hawaii so you know what expensive is.

If you are a democrat, welcome to heaven;  if a republican, welcome to hell.

All joking aside, welcome to MD!

Good to know, a few of my buddies just moved and got some apt. right out of the back gate of the fort. Says he cant wait for his lease to be up. So good to know. I figured with the CCW but it was worth the shot to ask, i got alot of guns im sure i can't have in MD and for that will stay in vegas. I am a Republican and so that means im going to be having a "good" time lol. Hey i got called a baby killer after coming back from the sandbox.... can you guess what state it was? I'll give you a hint, Has a carebare on its flag.

  2. A lot of older homes in Laurel but some should have garages or car ports. Look for newer developments in Laurel. 20 year old homes and newer should work. Look around in Severn which is right next to Fort Meade, Jessup, Guilford, Savage area also.

Noted i will have to check that out on zillow. I really appreciate the input guys. Now another question is what are some of the "bad" areas to stay away from? Also is there any Rally courses or rallyx guys in those areas i would assume there is. Also any of the Z guys there meet up and hang out, i know when i was with SincityZ we did every now and again. I miss being around other z owners and helping one another, if i have realized anything the Subie crowd is not really all that willing/able to turn a wrench. What things are there to do on the east coast? I have been to all the Museums and things like that in Maryland. Me and my soon to be wife don't party or anything. Are gun laws strict in MD?

  3. Thanks for the replies guys! I have been looking at around Laurel, i have noticed a lot of places do not have carports or something along that nature.  Its annoying. I don't want my Z in the open. The mods on my RallyX car are all suspension and engine, but looks stock. The Z has a built motor, struts springs, exhaust, and a new other things. This move is slowly killing me inside because well i LOVE HAWAIII, but can you blame me?

  4. Aloha from Hawaii,

So my 5 years on this beautiful oasis is up and after my foot heals i should be moving to Maryland. I am a Marine, and should be moving in the Fort Meade area. The questions i have if anyone has some info would be, whats a good area to look at houses in the area of Fort Meade? How is the registration process, i read that there is a safety inspection? How are they towards modified cars? I have a rallyx car and my Z is in vegas waiting to go MD, both cars are modified. I can't think of to many other questions at the moment those are my most important ones. Thanks for any input guys SHOOTS!

  5. Dont do Datsun parts LLC. Nissan can still rebuild them

I was quoted at 3k for a full motorswap several years ago.

As for rebello I'm sure hr can do a basic rebuild. If also ask braap. Possibly a shop that is in Glendale ca (sunrise Z) will do one.

I have read mixed reviews... some people say good some people say not good. SunriseZ is that a company or a user name? Braap does he do motor builds? My buddy can drop engines in, but he can't rebuild. If i was in vegas i would be rebuilding it myself lol. Any other recommendations would be awesome gang! Also any personal horror or good stories from Datsun Parts LLC.

  6. Good morning everyone. Well i have a simple question. Does anyone know of any shops or people that make crate L28 engines? I that know Rebello does but, I am not looking to spend 10k on an engine. The car is a weekend joy ride kind of car, so simple rebuild is what i had in mind. I live in Hawaii, but my z is in vegas (home town) at my friends house. I have been wanting to ship it out to my duty station but can't do that since it does not drive at the moment. Any input would be appreciated, thank you for your input.

  7. Did you tow with the front or rear wheels on the road? If rear did you remove the driveshaft?

I've always been told that if you tow a rwd vehicle you can really mess up the transmission/diff...

I've always either gotten a flatbed or once when I had no choice towed with the front wheels on the ground.

In my previous experience I've shipped plenty of cars and that might be a good alternative. The reason being with time and money spent driving, renting the towing setup, gas etc equals close to if not the same as shipping the car through a shipper.

Both of my Z's I bought out of state, my first from the Las Vegas shipped all the way to Boston (Cost me ~$1000 all said and told)

:edit I looked over the OP's post seems like he wants a truck to use and keep. I would honestly any v6 truck should be fine as long as the flatbed/dolley isn't huge.

I have heard that as well.... i have always wondered.

I was thinking of just getting a truck, and ship the z because your right the tow dolly, and gas, and bla bla bla it sounds like it could be a pain/expensive. My gal has never really been across america and ive driven it at least 4 times and thought it be a nice way to show her the beauty of this country..... minus those borring and falt states lol

  8. I used a 2WD Xterra to pull my Z all the way from north dakota to texas, no problem.

Was your Z on a full dolly? or just the ones that have two wheels on the front wheels? I assume its easier for the truck to pull a dolly that has the car completely off the road, but then again i am new to towing.... Did you do any modifications to the Xterra like headers or things like that?

  9. Hey gang! So here is the question, what is a good Truck (reasonably priced) Truck that i could use to tow my 71? I currently live in Hawaii but am moving back state side. MD to be exact and my z is in Las Vegas, and i want to pick up a truck in Vegas and drive it to MD. This wont be a Daily but will be used to tow cars to track events and hauling supplies for when i get a house and all that jazz, what do you guys run? What do you like and dislike about your truck? Do i have to have a big bad V* or is a V6 more then capable for the job.

    Mahalo !

  10. Well we all know the pain of fishing out basically 500$ at Msa for one of these I was wondering if anyone had a spare I live in Hawaii but my z is in Vegas getting some work done and then shipping here, and need the turn signals to work for darn safety check thanks

  11. Hello fellow z members, i did a search on how, or what is involved in shipping a car. I am currently in Afghanistan and when i get back to Hawaii (duty station) i would like to get another z. but the few z's that i have found in Hawaii are rolling rust buckets. And well i guess here is the question, if i found a z on here or ebay or some sort of online car selling place, how do you go about getting the title, knowing the real condition of the car, and how to ship it to Hawaii? Have any of you done this before? What was it like? I would love any input any of you have. thanks again Jack

  12. Are you serious? There's lots of concrete information about the aero on the Z and most knowledge shows that the ZX already has many things done to it from factory that make very significant changes to improve the aero, and the bumper is a big part of it.

Even the SCCA and IMSA drivers who made the switch talked about how the main different between the platforms was how much better the ZX cut through the air.

If your 76 and ZX had such dramatic differences in top speed odds are the answer is in the guages being inaccruate, or the ZX being heavier and having less power, taking significantly longer to reach top speeds and less agressive at 100+mph.

Now that i think about it... my zx was stock and it had like 189xxx miles on it and was off a tooth lol and my z is modded with carbs 6-1 and lightend... and diled in... my zx felt like it was struggling to get to speed as for the z it made it up to speed no problems.... so yea i can see what your sayin... maybe if the zx had more done to it, it would have been faster if not more... tehn my z

  13. Bet the removal of the front bumper really fubars the aerodynamics of the ZX, which is soo much better than the Z.

Looks good though! Maybe it would be possible to pull the rubber casing off the stock bumper and put some sort of bumper cover on it . . .

LOL! are u serious? My 76 hit 145 noproblem and my zx hit on avg 130ish but it had no problems goin faster its just so SLOW....
