  1. The only thing left to finish the Painless harness install is completing the wiper connections. For some reason the wipers only work when the headlights are on. I know the lights should be on when it's raining, but I want them to work like they are supposed to. Any suggestions as to why this is happening?
  2. The last thing I have to wire on my Painless kit is the hazard switch. I don't want to use the stock switch because it is rather crusty. I need help figuring out what kind of switch I need to use and how I wire it up. Suggestions?
  3. I am replacing the stock speedometer with a 5" Autometer ProComp Ultralite. The instruction sheet says the cable input for the gauge is 5/8 X 18 thread. The transmission is a 700R4. Can anyone give me a part number or type of doner vehicle that will work?
  4. If you happen across your notes that would be great. Like everybody else finding time to work on the Z is hard enough, but when I spend hours scratching my head because I have little confidence in my wiring ability it's seems counterproductive. If nothing else I will give it my best shot and put low voltage to it with the battery charger to see what works and what doesn't.
  5. I posted this on the sticky, but got no reply. Maybe that's a sign. It's been a while since I have posted on this topic, but I am back on the Z finally. It's 32 degrees out, but with a tarp for a garage door and a big time propane heater it is 66 degrees in the carport. A mans gotta do what a mans gotta do! After looking at Bill's post and many, many others here and on zcar.com I seem to have two Painless wires left over for the ignition section. What do I do with the following? Red Ign. #934 B+ and Pink Switch (coil/ign)? I'm thinking that one or both join with other Painless wires. I have the Painless 18 circuit kit. The fact that we are working on various year model Zs and the fact that some are using 12, 14 and 18 circuit Painless circuit kits is the cause of my confusion. I'm using the 18 circuit kit and am not sure about a couple of the wires. Maybe you can tell that I am not real comfortable with anything wiring related. I am just a little bit hesitant to put power to what I have. Help?

  7. Thanks for the reply Tim. I just looked at the linc. It looks like my truck gets a new motor.
  8. From everything I have been told, you should not run that transmission until you get the TV cable set. They say otherwise you will toast the transmission in a hurry. I don't know this from experience, but better safe than sorry.
  9. I got the numbers off the block and heads today, but I have not gotten hold of any one to run them for me. Can anybody help me out? Block 102438804. The heads had two numbers 10239906 and L294. Any help would be appreciated.
  10. I'm going to get the numbers off the block and check it out. If I put it in the Z I may go with Edelbrock heads and cam. If I put it in the old C10 I'll leave it stock. Regardless of what I decide to do with it, I think it's too good a price to pass on.
  11. I came across a 350 engine out of a 2000 model Chevy C60 truck. The truck belonged to a rental company and at about 47,000 miles a lifter went out so GM replaced it under warranty. The guy I'm getting it from bought the core from the rental place for $275.00 which is what I'm getting it for. I have not looked it over yet, but it's supposed to have four bolt mains and Vortec heads. He says the top of one of the lifters came apart, otherwise it's not hurt. Can anyone tell me if that truck came with four bolt mains and Vortec heads and what horsepower rating it would have? If every thing checks out that should be a great buy on a long block that only needs a lifter.
  12. As far a "breaking in" the weatherstrip from V.B., I would have knocked the glass out of the doors before that stuff broke in. I understand that new stuff may require some time to form, but it was simply too thick. The doors would not close. If you do a search you will find many others on this site who say the same thing. I don't have any pictures, but the shape and size are nearly identical to the stock weatherstrip. Check the web site I posted. They have very detailed diagrams of the weatherstrip with measurements. I put mine on over a year ago and I am very pleased.
  13. Check out http://www.Mcmastercarr.com. That is where I got mine after someone here told me about them. I bought a 25 foot roll dirt cheap. Sorry, but it has been a while so I don't remember how much. When you get to the site look at page 3181, item #1120A33. I works great. I sent the Victoria British stuff back because the doors would not close.
  14. I sent you a PM. If Brad-Man decides not to get the hood I'll take it.
  15. Question. Did you have to use relays in order to use these headlights or is the wiring stock?
