  1. I noticed that too, even as I was taping it up I was thinking to myself "Hmmm, there should be more space between these...." I think that side of the body kind of has the stripes compressed together a little too tightly because of the misplacement of the diagonal stripe on the front. Thats the worst thing about trying to copy one of these exactly: One strip in the wrong location screws up pretty much every other strip you add after it. Oh well :)

I got it put back together today an was able to play it a little. I added some longer spacers under the pickup to bring it closer to the strings than it was before, and it toally woke up a pickup that previously sounded kinda weak. This thing is a beast now, pinch harmonics are super easy, and the tone is total early VH. I need to work on the amp side a bit to refine the tone a bit more, but the guitar is definitely there now.

I got the 3 way switch in the mail today too, and found it wasn't the one I wanted after all. The ebay add only showed the backside of the switch, which looks just like the backside of a vintage CRL switch like the one in the real Frankenstein guitar. The front side of the switch though, which is the part you can see in the control cavity, looks completely different than the CRL switch. So I ordered the right switch, and will play the hell out of this thing until it shows up.

the new tranny is a E4n71B

because of the vg30 being manual trannsmission before

im havin trouble installing the torque converter, because i dont think the plate will support it by itself...i guess i need some piece when going to the crankshaft.

    thanx for any help

  4. been told my 84 300zx NA automatic can have replacement parts from a 79 z

automatic....dont know how it would work.... if you happen to come across a re build tranny....that would give u spare parts to fix the 84....im on my way to fix mine....post if u find an answer.....cya on the road!

  5. I´m printing this whole tread guys....I may not change my mind, but it sure got me to consider options I´ve never thought......let alone things I didn´t knew.....different opinions is not always bad....and got my share of laughs too!

  6. Awesome guitars Memegtr. How did you get those signed? I'd love to get one of mine signed, but the thought of dragging one to a concert just scares me. Ebay sells waterslide decals of artist signatures, but that would be really lame. Of course... it is a fake Satriani model guitar, What would fit it better than a fake sig? :)

Z-Rex, I can't see the pics of your's at all for some reason. The link doesn't work for me.

well that wolfgang has it´s story......actually I didn´t bought this one.....I won it in a contest.....went through the elimination process playing some VH solos.....in the final stage I played "fire in the hole" from VH III, it turns out on that tune eddie has a guitar with a trans-trem in it, so he plays it in A, while I had to pull it off in B.....not exactly easier......well....fortunatly the other guys were lamer than me.....ufff.

as for the paul gilbert signature.....I went to a clinic at a local store....brought my guitar and he kindly signed it....looks more like a doodle anyway....

  7. memegtr what is your opinion of that AC175 carvin acoustic. I have always thought those were great looking acoustics but have never played or seen one for that matter.

well, its is meant to sound only through the piezo....and sounds as good as a piezo pickup can get....wich is close enough for some gigs, I want to get the acoustic sansamp to polish the overall acoustic sound.....so far I´ve played through my gt5....with some results..(80´s rock stuff & pop stuff).

I´m thinking about putting a gk3 on it because of the way the neck feels...really easy on the left hand, since I use low action, and there is not much diference with the neck of an electric. bending is another story though because acoustic strings are thicker and not so easy to pull.

I have recorded in local studios with it but only to support rhytm behind an electric sound or a real acoustic with a mic on it.

great overall guitar ....won´t get rid of it.....it´s a keeper.....

  8. so far yes careless, and I hope I don´t have to replace more....I´m always checkin though....

what´s that guitar near the banjo cozy z cole?

    ovation electric....I´m guessing here...

did you guys tried recording to HD with the guitar port...well I have and it isnt bad at all....it just takes a few minutes of tweaking to get a sound....

I record into sonar for multitracking....is not studio quality but close enough....
