  1. The deed is done, MonZster is in posession of the Type 1 and Type 2 HKS Plenums for some reverse engineering and CFD to let us all know what the Old-School JDM guys were doing. It's going to be interesting to see what the results are, and what can be learned/relearned from these artifacts...kind of like an archaelogical dig! It may shed some 'new' light on the subject, and move the design in a different way, or it may be a case of us saying "they made 592 RWHP in spite of what they were using at the time!"

How much of the in depth reverse engineering do you and MonZster plan on publishing online? I ask because I am concerned that very detailed measurements and or very detailed pictures of the internals could work to devalue the few HKS plenums here in the US. I'm all for scientific research as long as it does not devalue the pieces a few of us had to search out for years to get a hold of. After all I'm sure it would not be appreciated by other plenum owners if I started making castings of my plenum and dropping them for sale on Ebay. Not that there is any intention of that in your research, But if enough detailed information is published (such as scale pictures/measurements of the internal plenum) there are those outside of HybridZ that would not hesitate to profit from a knock off of it.

  2. That front piece is the stock bumper with a lower air dam, similar can be had from motorsport auto. The grill area was custom molded/shaped, several members here have closed the front of their S130's off in the same way. The rear ZG's are the wider variety that 280Zforce may be making a run of from his originals. The rest is off the shelf, nothing special about those vents either... Looks tough!

  3. I don't see anyone modifying a GT-R for at least 12 months After it hits the market and then it'll be significant time and money in R&D.

Japanese tuners are already hard at work and they have a one year head start. The car that "Best Motoring" performed their test with is owned by "Mines". By the time the GTR drops here there will be an aftermarket! Even if that means importing from Japan for very high $$$. Thats never detered enthusiasts here in California; don't know how VA. works?

  4. ^ I don't think you overpaid. No major rust or body damage from what I see in the pics except for a very repairable dent in the nose. You got Glass, bumpers, grill, seats, turn signals, gauges, choke handel, rear window louvers and steering wheel. I'm also assuming the engine is present by the way it sits. The 80's and 90's have past and unless a close friend or family member is selling the car you won't find many give aways in California anymore, definitely not quality ones. $1700 was a good deal.

  5. Groan.

I shudder to think of what will happen to S30s should they ever grab the eye of the pop culture tools the way the AE86 Corolla did because of Initial D.

Leave this junk to the showoffs.

Prepare to shudder, the people who own the rights to WM have been going through YouTube removing all WM content. They are obviously preparing for world wide distribution. They even deleted a new "Best Motoring" video that featured a WM replicar (it wasn't turbocharged, lame). In the video Keiichi Tsuchiya drives an R32, supra T, Porsche Blackbird and the WM replicar on a speedway for an "In depth" comparison. At the end of the test he also concluded that bringing a non turbo s30 for comparison was lame.

  6. With popularity of the s30 booming I would not be surprised if there was a car loosely based around WM in part 5 or 6. I don't see this franchise ending soon. They still have to make a Wangan movie and a Touge movie, right?:-) For now they want newer rally cars, modified show quality domestic and euros. My guess is they already have their hands full of street driven Japanese cars, but send those pictures too, featured cars make money in these movies. Also the studio covers the insurance while filming.

  7. Hey guys I know how most of you feel about the franchise, I feel the same way. But just in case anybody out there is looking for an in to feature your car, here you go!!

"Hey everyone, I am looking for cars to go into the film production of Fast and the Furious 4. If you have a newer car that is modified or a rally car and want to have your car in the movie let me know by this saturday. Or you can e-mail pics to ttomitaka@hotmail.com"

Thats my buddy Tarow a dedicated Nissan head I have known for 5 years. I'm just doing this as a favor to him (he is going to host my new show in a few months). He worked in casting on F&F 3 and some of you may know him from the days when he was vice president of Swift springs. They are looking for show quality domestics, euros and rally cars. If your looking to get your shops car recognized or you have friends that might be interested please pass on his email with the instructions to send pictures. I now feel dirty..:icon9:

  8. You may need a wide angle lens so we can see out of the wind shield and you a little better. Or if you can lower the camera a little more so its over your right shoulder that would also help. Looks pretty study otherwise! Sound is also decent!

  9. Are they making these in America? I ask because that price point is frickin awesome. $45,000 cheaper than a 911T!!! The performance on paper also looks VERY similar to the 911T. 911T, 480HP, topspeed 193, 0-60 3.4 or was it 3.5? Both are AWD. Similar indeed.

  10. I have personally seen this car @ "Super Car Sunday" in Woodland Hills and all I have to say is HE IS OUT OF HIS MIND AND FULL OF IT. Those cheap konig with Honda spacers got no love in a parking lot full of Ferrari's and Lambo's. There were even a few Vectors and GT 40's that day, this dude is trying to sell it for 45K so he can run out, get an M3 and fit in with the Euro crowd @ SCS. And his statement was hilarious about V8 Z's. It just so happened that while I was observing his cheapo konig set-up, two of the Euro guys came over excited; "Hey is that a V8 Z!?" Owner: "No its a triple carb set up" Two guys: "oh" They then walked away to look at a GT40. This guy just want's the buyer to pay for his newer/used M3 or 911. There was another built v8 240z that was getting love, it had some nice JDM Racing Harts 17x8.5 17x9.5. Two weeks later I bought my 17x8.5 17x9.5 JDM Manaray MJ9's inspired by that car.
