the reason you have 12volts on both wires is because you're probing into teh wire with the injector plug plugged in. therefore the 12volt power supply (red wire) is feeding through the injector itself and back up through the signal wire.
that's normal.
if you unplug the injector, and probe the injector plug, you will find that one wire is powered, the other wire waits for the ecu to send the ground pulse to trigger it to open....

i fabbed up the powersteering high pressure hose and clutch line yesterday. still waiting on the driveshaft to come back, they made it too long the first time.
we also need to modify the downpipes and make some intake pipes for the air filter(s).
then last but not least devise a sweet throttle linkage utilizing the drive by wire stepper motor.
then we can strap it on the dyno and give it a nice break-in low boost tune so Ruben can put some miles on it.
after that we'll crank that puppy up and finish off the custom ac lines.
ps. i tried not to use gangster slang terms or kiddish antagonism because i don't want this thread locked. since i can't reply in the show me your z thread that got waaaaaay out of proportion. i'd like to apologize to hybridz here for my post that got the thread locked. it was playful crap talking to andy with the B.A. rb26 300zx because his car's sweet so i figured he'd get a kick out of seeing what we did in a 350z. the whole thing got blown way out of proportion so here's my sincere apology for anyone who'd take it the wrong way
I'm sorry

how do you get 30mpg with an LS2...i barely get 25 with an engine half the size
hehe, it's great. gto gets ~25mpg and weighs ~3700lb, so in a car that weighs ~700+ lb less, gas mileage would be an easy 30+
it's crazy lol

80Lt1: no more vibration than the solid motor mounts lol
the headers came from hinson i wanna say they were somewhere from 800-1000. they're made for an s14 though i don't think they'll hug the block enough to fit a Z.
next oddball hybrid swap we do we're doing the headers and mounts in house since we got a full time fab guy now, and the stuff takes a LONG time to get from hinson....that's really my only gripe with them.
thx again

i don't think they'd fit on a Z

LOL, thx fellas. they're the smallest can'd 3" magnaflow's we could find from summit.
we took it for emmissions (since it's 95 it's obd1 so goes on the rollers) and with no cats it passed on nox with flying colors but failed on hc's and co's.
at first with the maf right on the throttle body almost like it is in the pictures up there it was pulling 9.0 air fuel ratio's on the dyno. so that's why we put the snorkel and the air filter for the dyno vid which got the air fuels to ~12. we hadn't yet got our 4" silicone 90 bend and the 4 inch piping to finish off the intake and route it with the maf/filter to the driver's side behind the headlight.
with just the maf-intake-throttle body we got those emissions test results. i'm sure if we put an air filter on it the nox'll go up slightly but it'll lean itself out enough to pass hc's and co's without a problem.
passing emmissions with no cats ftw
thx again for the praise fellas. take care

this is a customer's car we did at the shop. i did all the wiring. no painless or speartec harness for me sir. obd2 works, ac works, everything works lol
if you would like me to do your wiring shoot me a pm. thx
first start up
first test drive
here's it on the dyno, not too shabby for a stock ls2 /w a cam & a ~12 a/f ratio
Bottom line: 428rwhp , 411rwtq , 30+mpg LS2 powered 1995 Nissan 240sx

get a corvette fuel filter, it has a fuel pressure regulater with a return nipple made into it. you run the feed into it and the return line back to your tank, then continue your filtered fuel up to your fuel rail.
you can get the gm quick connects from summit so you can run steel braided hose which i'd recommend since it's 60psi of fuel pressure. i believe aeroquip and russells both make the fittings

it's been a while since re-visiting this thread
i have a z32 tranny in my rb25'd 280z , you can use the front bellhousing off a 25 or 26 i used a 26 cause it was easy to get ,i used a 91 maxima slave cylinder and drilled/threaded the holes for it, rb20, 25, or 26 clutch and flywheels all work with each other.
i like the z32 tranny over the rb25 tranny in that they're the same frickin guts , it's been said they both can handle 1000hp (i don't make 1000hp but it handles my 440 no problem) the z32's cheaper than the 25, the z32's easier to find (call junk yards), and you can shorten the shift linkage or lengthen it to put the shifter where you want it in the correct location (cut and weld)
with new shift bushings all i really have to do is rotate my wrist to get it in gear, where as the 25's just like a ka as far as shifting, there's a lot of slop. you just gotta be careful about the rumor'd (don't get this particular year z32 tranny cause they have bad synchros) my z32 tranny's out of a non-turbo 91 z32
the only thing that i don't like is the damn speed sensor is so frickin long. i wish i could put the rb20 vss in it so the stock 280z cable driven speedo would work (it sux not having speedo), but if you get autometer speedo guage you're all good. and if you need a calibration box (according to the profec e01 the speed signal is a 2p)
you could modify an rb20 vss to work with it, you just need to be able to weld aluminum. anywho

my sole intent for the day was to get the LS2 s14 running......which happened at about 9am this morning....so the rest of the day i took it easy and had some fun with the camera. too bad it can only record a minute at a time
had a surprise visit from Jeremy Blackwell @ Speed for Sale
part 1that's Garry Grimes (Machine Shop) tellin stories in the background. R35 GTR...then to the LS2 S14, then a quick walk by derek's rb25'd 180sx drift car, then over to the 1 off GTK550 Turbo Scion TC, a quick glance at drew's t78 400hp FD rx7, then over to drew's 3 rotor 20b /w gt42r motor with the Eunos Cosmo (3 rotor) front clip in the back ground
part 2picked up where i left off.....a comparison between my pack of cigerettes and a gt42r lol.....turbo wins...another eye candy shot of drew's FD, then Laura's Galant VR4, a 4AGE Hachi, R32 GTR, custom widebody suburu (white car), 800hp 3.2 stroker mk4 supra, magbee's 2.4L sr20 stroker with the sexy SSR rims, Dom's S15 6 speed sr with the full race gt30 kit. i was trying to show the inside of the exhaust manifold of how nice the collector was.
part 3back to the Beastly LS2 s14, another walk around "GODZIRRA" , off to the showroom for a quickie with my new and improved rb25'd 280z (got a built bottom end now ) , then to our s14 silvia, then our r32 gtr (we're talking about doing an 8 liter WORLD LSX...... 2,000 AWHP is the intent behind that one, and then a quick glance at the JDM 12A carbeurated turbo rotary motorset.
sorry the vids were so dark, that camera's not that great and i make a better mechanic than a videographer lol.
thx for checking out our shop via the online virtual tour

thanks
after doing this swap for him, i wanna put an LSX into my 71 240z.....with BOOST
i had a bet with one of my domestic buddy's. he kept talking ♥♥♥♥ about "get the speartech harness" i'm like
wiring is my ♥♥♥♥, i can do it....
and i did, obd2 works and everything, i wired up the ac too, he just needs to get the lines fabbed. the clip doesn't do it justice for how it really sounds in person. you can feel it lobing in your chest lol it's so loud >_<

Here's the LS2 we just put in Charles' 95 s14, we put a cam and springs in it before the install
gotta love the sound of that bish
should be 400hp+ 400tq and get 28-40 miles per gallon
6.0 240sx stroker kit ftmfw!
Hammilton who shot the vid hadn't heard it start yet so he didn't know how beastly it was gonna sound. hence his little girly whimper at the end hahahahha

can u monitor the datastream with your scanner and see what the ecu is seeing. depending on ur scanner you could try activating different things ie idle air control valve etc until you isolate the culprit.
were you suspicious that it was just priming the fuel pump but not keeping the fuel pump running?
gl
Dave

well, i made a jumper harness for the dash plug (power & ground supply) and hooked up a generic obd2 scanner to the obd2 plug, and i can monitor everything on the datastream/osciloscope so i guess it's good to go.
i just wanted to be 100% sure of myself. so i have confirmed the obd2 - ls2 pinout to c1 blue
C1 PIN ---------- OBD2 PIN
PIN 1 DATABUS SERIAL + ------- PIN 6
PIN 2 DATABUS SERIAL - ------- PIN 14
BATTERY VOLTAGE ------------ PIN 16
GROUND ---------------------- PIN 4 AND PIN 5
thx =]

i was trying to spy so i looked at the speartech conversion harness for the street rods and i can only see about 5 wires going to the OBD2 DLC and they all seem to be on one side, which is how my DLC looks....i'd just like to be sure so i can get all the wiring situated before i move on to the other stuff.
worst case scenario i guess it just won't communicate.....and i heard a rumor the VATS (anti-theft) cuts the fuel pump power to the relay.....which can be overcame...but i definately wanna get his obd2 connector situated so he can get it tuned for the cam/headers etc.
any confirmation would be great. thanks fellas
Dave

basically i'm doing an LS2 into a buddy's s14 and in order to lock out the VATS and tune it to street rod mode i need to hook up the obd2 DLC.
it's a 3 plug ecm. black and grey go to the engine harness and all the sensors. and the C1 BLUE plug is wired into the appropriate power supplies and what not from the 240sx's dash plug, and i've already wired up the electric throttle pedal to the C1 as well
this LS2 motorset is t56, ls2, engine harness and ecu /w pedal and c1 plug. there's no bcm or tcm or abs computer or any other modules other than the engine's computer.
on the C1 blue plug i see pin 1 and 2 are serial + and -
and i see that after they pass information from module to module they end up going to the OBD2 DLC. pin 1 from C1 (serial databus + circuit 2500) goes to pin 6 obd2 , and pin 2 from C1 (serial databus - circuit 2501) goes to pin 14 on the obd2
as for the rest of the obd2 plug, pin 16 gets battery 12v, pin 4 & 5 get ground.
is that it? will i be able to hook up a scanner/computer and monitor/tune it with just this?
thx in advance.
