  1. Lol! I started this project back in Nov 1999. I put up a thread here in '03 with an S15 SR20DET & 6 speed conversion but things have changed slightly over the years.

Here's the original topic below, however I will be posting a new topic with this conversion soon.

  2. I think the as the saying goes, "If you have to ask, you can't afford it!" LOL biggrin.gif Sorry Stony, but I couldn't resist--nothing against you, man.

The work on this car is exceptional and I like where it is headed too. Only, it needs a twin turbo V8, then it would be purrrfect. :2thumbs:

It's been a while since I was last on here but I took ur advice DavyZ, SR20 out... twin turbo V8 in (hopefully it works out) with a few other changes as well.

  3. Hi guys,

I've got stuck into the Z again, this time working on the front guards & spoiler. They have been shaped & ready to be glassed up.

Also been working on the front end suspension, I've changed the whole set up now & used S4/5 RX-7 stuts etc & made my own adjustable castor/camber tops. I've also fabricated a new engine x-member.

  4. Hi all, I've been searching around looking for answers to my questions. It would be nice if all the information was in one place instead having to do 50 searches. Anyways here goes. I have a 73 240z. I'm looking at installing an SR20 - not sure which model. I Plan on buying a clip from a silvia to help with parts. From what i understand I will need custom made motor mounts and mounts for the transmission. Does anyone sell mounts for this conversion? Next can I use my stock rear end? I understand the my driveshaft has to be shortened. How much shorter does it have to go? How much power can it take? If I want to keep the motor stock can i use the wiring harness and the ECU from the silvia? or will I have to go with a standalone. I was planning on just running a custom 3inch down pipe and exhaust. Thanks to all who have any positive input.

I am now selling my set up pictured below.

It includes the modified x-member that's beed powder coated & comes with adjustable LCA camber kit, red urethane mounts, & custom fab'd engine brackets.

I am now going power steering & my car being RHD doesn't leave enough room for the boss/head of the MX-5 (Miata P/S rack). But there is plenty of room for LHD cars.

No mods are needed, just bolt it in.

  5. Finally, after so long I decided to pull my finger out & give my thumb ago... so I got stuck into the doors. The door shells were perfect, just surface rust but the skins needed changing (dented & rusty).

The door shells were garnet blasted then sprayed with POR 15 followed by fabricating new double intrusion bars made from T6061 alloy. These are much stronger than the single flimsy original pressed steel type.

There has also been a change to the door handles, out with the old & in with the new... now sporting the R32 Skyline type.

  6. Hi Guys, just to let you know that ther has been a little progress on the beast. I've been working on the engine bay for some time now trying to get all the small & time consuming things sorted & finished. Things like alloy braces, brackets etc & my custom T3 exhaust manifold. So here's a couple of pics. I hope to have the bay completed in 2-3 weeks.

Hey John, you want to buy my tail lights? NO CHANCE!

  7. Hi guys, just want to add that Z-TARD hit the nail on the head about the pipework, it's most definitely Titanium hence the welding every inch or so, it can't be bent cause it will split or crack & it's the in thing over in Japan.

Very light & expensive to say the least.

    Nick.
