  1. If you aren't getting enough airflow through the radiator it won't matter how think it is, also the vl commy's used to overheat due to airpockets not being able to "bleed" out into the radiator because they mounted them lower. Could be a stuffed thermostat, water pump or blocked radiator. Also another thing to remember is that too much anti boil/freeze isn't good either, it doesn't disperse heat as well as water does. If you've run any "stop leak" through it and havn't filled the cooling system with ONLY water that stuff will also mix with the anti boil/freeze and create blockages. Thanks very much to all you guys, Paul you are the only person I can find that has actually kept the SOHC, I'm doing my car up for the missus and don't want her to kill herself so I'm keeping the engine pretty standard, as you said good porting and a nice cam and your set. Thanks for the pics too, was awsome to finally see what mine will look like, your idea with the spacer in the crossmember sounds like it will solve my problems if they arise and I think I mite make a flatter wider custom jobby anyway. Couldn't help but notice the holden rocker cover, hahah nice. Cheers. Nick
  3. Hey guys, just wondering if my Rb30 is going to hit the bonnet on my 240z, I am going to run the single cam for a while until I can afford the RB26 head. I'm going to use the castlemain rod shop engine mounts and just wondering if anyone can tell me if the intake is going to hit the bonnet, even thought the rocker cover might? Saw a custom intake for the single cam head on ebay which was just a box that bolts onto the bottom half of the intake, it sat at the same height as the rocker cover but they go for about $400 and I would prefer the use the stock intake for now if I can get away with it. If I needed to use a custom jobby I will just get one made up (gotta love RAAF workshops). Any thoughts would be helpful. Cheers. Nick
  4. Stoney whats your web site? I'm also putting and RB30 in a 240Z, picked the engine up for $200 off ebay, has everything still onit. Just sold the L26 that was init. I just want to know how to fit the auto gearbox? will I need a custom mount? and it the commy gearbox, are they the same as the R31 skyline? Also heard the castlemain rod shop do the mounts but they are shithouse, this true? Cheers. Nick

Thanks Tannji, yeh we have the whale tail for the car aswell but don't like it so it's on ebay for $100, although I've heard they help with reducing the famous exhaust smell due to pushing the air upwards instead of it just mixing behind the car. We plan on having twin pipes facing downwards out the back, don't know if this will help at all but it'll look nice. Do you think it will run a bit warm due to lack of air into the radiator because of that G-nose? Think I might have to make some fibreglass ducts to direct the air straight onto the radiator and not be wasted hitting stuff that doesn't need to be cooled.

Thanks for all your help guys, will update and ask more questions when the RB30 is getting put in, this site has heaps of info, theres so much knowledge between all you guys since you've done it all before. I know this has nothing to do with the thread but has anyone ever heard of somone transplanting a 3.5ltr rover V8 into a 240? I think it would be a really nice conversion, they rev really hard and are an alloy block, EFI and cheap as well, ever been done? Thanls again. Nick

  8. Yeh the guy I bought it off said it was maybe a californian kit, who is JCR? And are these kits very rare? I havn't seen a Z look like this one before, looks more like a corvett. Still gota get better pics.
  9. Hey guys I'm new, just wondering if anyone could tell me what this kit is called? I bought the car a month ago and would like to know as much about it as possible, it has gills on the front side guards, flared and smoothed rear quarters with vents just behind the doors and a roundish nose with only two sections either side of the front number plate cut out for cooling, sorry about the photo will get better ones tomorow.
