No I dont Dennis, I thought about using some fender washers and sheet metal screws. I wish I had a retaining ring.
For my '71, I had the local high school metal shop cut one out on their plasma cutter. I gave them a pattern traced from the later style boot, including the screw holes. A real life project for the students and no cost, or skill required, for me. Win/Win!

So I heated and bent the shifter at the top and bottom of the pivot point as well as bent the top part of the shaft upwards more. It seems to be alot better, but I have a newer style 72-78 rubber shift boot on it's way as my car has the early style boot on it that is extremely stiff and bulky in the section that hits the console... I also justified spending $40 on a new boot because mine has 2 large rips in it. I'm hoping after I install the later style boot that the problem will be solved. I will follow up once I get everything thing installed and bolted up to see how it worked.
Do you also have there rectangular retaining ring to hold the boot down? It screws to the center hump and holds the later style boot in place.

On my '71, I cut a slight arch out of the console where the shift lever hit. When the leather/vinyl shift lever boot is in place, the cutout is not seen.

I can take some pictures of the one I have at home, but its not the method I'm going to go. Unfortunately thats the part I want to keep secret until I have everything finished.

Got any "Before & After" data to support viability?

Wow! Very nice. Quite a change from the "Before" pictures.

I don't think you'll have any problems. I've stripped an entire fiberglass car with aircraft grade stripper. Strip[ them and then hose them off with clean water,

Looks like you'll be doing a little rewiring or plug swapping. Did you send a copy of the picture to Futofab for their input?

What if you leave it registered in La? Change your address to a family members at the DMV so they can get the sticker for the plates for you, as you can do all the renewal stuff online. I know there's a Pagani, 2 Ferarri's, and a McLaren around here, and they are all registered in Montana so the owners can avoid taxes here. If they can do it, there must be some kind of loophole.
That works until you get in an accident or the car is stolen and your insurance company wonders why your car is insured in a state where you don't live and you've probably been paying lower rates than if it was registered in CA. Many hoops to jump through to be successfully devious.

Here you go. You'll need a SMOG certification on a '78 which will be a slight problem with the LS. Welcome to California!

And yes, they were poking around the hoard. They will be back.
I need to make some adjustments to the security alerts available at the house...
Spring Guns and remote Claymores are frowned upon by the local constabulary.
Consider Blink security cameras - wireless, motion activated, indoor/outdoor (if protected from rain), cell phone notification when activated, and they send what they see to the Cloud so even if they are stolen, the recordings are available. I bought a set after a break-in a few months ago. I also added a very loud alarm system. Sucks that we have to fortify our homes.

I've had a G37 convertible for six years and love it. The 325 HP engine and the throaty exhaust note make it a fun ride. My experience at the local dealership has been top notch. Gas mileage isn't the best, but this is a car that begs you press hard on the "go" pedal.

I have the MSA kit in my '71 and it works quite nicely. It's listed at $1,149. Availability comes and goes.

You mention looking for a "new overfill" tank. That's a vapor recovery tank, not a fuel holding tank. What's broken on it?

The yellow lenses do add a "look at me" factor to the Z. But, if they cut brightness at night, you're probably better off with the clear.

Nice look and function. My SUs from ZTherapy have shipped and will arrive on Tuesday. They'll be the only clean and shiney parts under the hood. Should be an improvement over the 44 year old originals.

Any updates on how it all went together?

Harbor Freight for the nutserts and installation tool. Ace Hardware for the Allen Head screws. Good prices in both places when I bought mine.

120-122 yen to the dollar was the norm during the '70s and '80s.
In 1971 when I was making frequent trips to Japan, the exchange rate was 360 Yen to the dollar. I could buy a very nice new Seiko chronograph for less than the cost of getting one cleaned by a jeweler in the States. The dollar went a long way in Japan in those days and I enjoyed a great two week ski vacation on one visit. Bought my Z when I got home.

Any idea what was used as chrome trim on the flush mount lenses used on the red car above? It gives them a nice finished look.

At least never tell the wife it's done. Or she will think you have all kinds of spare time:)
........and spare money to spend on remodeling the kitchen.

Anyone have an idea about what other examples have sold for in recent years? 200K seems optimistic as the high end of the range, but that's what auction houses do to "chum" the bidding.

Quick question what the hell is this?
