bump for this old thread!
Great info, I just picked up an S15 HLSD carrier Im planning to run in a longnose with custom axles, I dont have the S15 stubs with it but by the list it looks like either a Q45 or Z32 T stubs will work?
z32tt R-230 lsd- 30 spline
90-96 Q45 short nose r-200 lsd - 30 splinejust want to see if anyone here knows any reason why I couldn't use the Q45/Z32TT in an S15 Helical? would make it a lot easier to source on this end and I could use the Q45/Z32 inner CVs as well which I can find in a day. thanks guys!

that's great man , yeh only way I was getting a set of Wats is if they were polished and I wasn't really willing to wait that long , im always on the auction so when I seen that set I had to have them and I got a full set of watanabe wheel lugs and caps . My rear tires are 235/50 r888 , fronts are 225/45 r888
wow those look like standard size ZG flares? if so then wow, nice!

Great work Geojoe, looks awesome!
And what were those original gold wheel in that first pic?

Also mods can you PLEASE not close this thread or move it to the tool shed like you did the last two. If anything this thread should be Pinned at the top. Getting rid of these threads just makes it easier for this guy to keep ripping people off.

thanks guys! I wasnt sure about the JCI ones since on mine theres a special hole cut on the drivers side for the steering shaft, but maybe its because the mounts are offset from each other that allows the RHD shaft to clear. I'll confirm with them, thanks again!
-
I like these since they are a much more simple design and bolt right to the stock motor mount pads on the front cross-member and also have 3" of adjustability. Im running the JCIs right now but looking for an alternative for the buddy in Japan is RHD (and JCI is made for LHD). Talked to a couple people that have them installed now and like them but so far their cars aren't on the ground yet. Just wanted to hear if anyone has had them on the road yet.
thanks!

For those of you running 16x8 what tires sizes are you running and what suspension? I'm looking for 16x8 all around with maybe 225/50/16 tires. I will run eibach progressives with tokico blues. I wanna know if I need to roll my fenders or trim back the stock perch to prevent rubbing.
Thanks for your help.
Also if anyone has pictures of rota wires or rota flush wheels please share them. Would love to see them mounted on a 240
what are "Rota Wires"?

All back together and out of the panel shop and straight into the tyre shop. The 275s will go on the rear, the 245s up front and new springs to raise it up have to go in.All in all I am happy with the work that has been done, but it makes me find other things that now have to be done.
damn I know Im going to regret selling my Marugen Shokai flares, You were able to get those to fit pretty well without a G-nose. Looks great!

front is done and the rear will be done the next days
I can tell you just installed that big muffler but its not going to last long there at all. The bottom of that muffler is clearly at least 6" below the crossmember.

There's a reason the S30 is called the 'poor man's Jaguar'
Ya, Z's were called "The-Poor-Mans" a lot of different cars in the 70s, but really it was all a pretty flimsy excuse to make Jag, Porsche, Alfa, etc owners feel better about the fact that Zs were spanking their cars for a fraction of the price. Haha, old Jags. Have fun with those Lucas electronics "Rich-Man"!

Man if my car wasn't as clean and tidy as it is, I'd totally gut the fenders and go wild like your build.. its awesome.
Sell it to me
haha sorry, Im already so tits deep in this build...
after dozens of project cars this will prob be the one I sit on till I pass it onto my kid.... so he can wreck it

Holy Carp that's totally bad-ass. I love that spoiler, suits the car really well.
thanks, better pic of the spoiler

yeah I was going to say theres no way you'd ever fit 225s on the back of that without flares anyhow. looks good though, what do those wheels go for?
-
-
yeah they were discontinuing the 245/45/16s a while ago but the porsche guys made such a big stink about it (very poular size with old 911s) they brought them back and they will def be a few street/track choices for the next few years to come at least.
those RE11 have good reviews and probably your best bet if you're looking for a street tire. Im running RA-1s full time on mine, they make very good street tires (if you dont do much driving in the rain) And the last time I ran them as street tires on my old STI I got a bit over 10k miles out of them. Since my Z isnt my DD 10k would probably last me about 3 years, and by the third year even if they had gotten a bit harder they would likely still be about the equivalent of any other summer street time.

^^^^ i would also love to know where that rear wing comes from?....is it custom made perhaps?
yeah its all custom adjustable mounts and the wing is cut from 1/2" tinted plexiglass

My instructions for strut shortening assume a normal race sized tire (225/50-15s) and a goal of improved handling and performance. I thought that was obvious by Wayne Bernstien's preface in the Strut Sectioning FAQ. When you start changing parameters (like increasing tire OD by 2" in your example) then you have to adjust. Terry's comments on the thread cover that.
Jon Im not sure where you are getting 2 inches from, but 245/45/16s are only 1/2" more OD than 225/50/15s (24" vs 24.5") and believe me I agonized trying to find a decently wide tire in 15 or 16 that kept it as close to 24" OD as possible, the 245/45/16s were the best choice.

Just because somebody else does it doesn't mean it's a good idea. I am to the point now where actually I hate seeing Z cars with ZG flares because almost every single one has them mounted too low.
But all the cool kids were mounting them low, I just wanted to be cool too!!
but yeah it turns out that was the biggest problem, after I got the the arches cut out and raised the flares up today everythings sitting right. I purposely installed the the flares lower first just to be safe since I knew I could go higher but once their cut i cant go lower. I might still go a higher on the flares but Im certain now I dont need to raise the car any higher. thanks guys!

225 front/250 rear 10" springs with the GC kit. and right now Im running the stock top/hats insulators. I'll be installing the T3 front plates, wasnt planning on running rear plates but i will if you think I'll be able to raise it up another inch, Thanks John!
And Rebekah, Its right at 6" from the floor to the bottom of the pinch flange FWIW, thanks!
