  1. Well, it’s that time again. Issue #12 is at your local newsstand, and likely in your mailbox if you’re a subscriber. If you haven’t yet seen the new issue, check out the attached cover and table of contents. In this issue, you’ll find an incredible S-Tune GT-R cover car, an entertaining tale of wheeling in Mexico in a Frontier, a Sentra SE-R race car, a beautifully restored Datsun 280Z, and the twin turbo 300ZX of Ahmed Rashid. Of course we also will have a story on the Nissan Leaf. There’s truly something for everyone in this issue! To subscribe, check out http://www.cnwzcommerce.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=SFNT&Store_Code=NissanSport. If you’re thinking that’s a very weird website that is definitely NOT our old website, you’re correct. We got hacked into and as a result, we are not using our website at this time. We are in the process of rebuilding, but for now you can at least subscribe via the web. The order site is completely separate from the main website, so orders are safe and secure. Also, if you’re in the area (Murrieta, CA), stop by the Datsun History Museum for the Mr. K 100th Birthday Celebration September 12-19. September 19 is the Mr. K Commemorative Car Show for 1983 and older Datsuns. Contact the Datsun Heritage Museum at 951-696-1087 for more information.
  2. We’ve just wrapped up the eleventh issue of Nissan Sport and it has something for everyone, from the new (Nissan R35 GT-R SpecV, NISMO 370Z, Infiniti G37 Convertible) to the classic (Datsun Roadster, 510, 240Z). Our cover car is the jaw-dropping Infiniti Essence Concept. Even though it’s just a concept, there’s a reason it’s important, which you’ll read about in our pages. Our other lead story takes us to the days of Morton, Sharp, and Newman, as Merlin Blackwell (author of our Nissan 50th anniversary feature) revisits the captivating history of Datsun/Nissan road racing in America. We’ll also be featuring a GT-Rish station wagon, a winch-monster Nissan Patrol, and an Infiniti G sedan that went through a coupe infusion. All new Nissan Skyline Crossover comes to Japan. Only it’s not new to the US and Europe. We know it as the Infiniti EX35/37. The Japanese version will have the 3.7-liter V6 along with a seven-speed transmission and comes out this summer. The 2009 EX to be released in the States will have a slightly more leg room for back seat passengers and the Around View Monitor will be available on more packages instead of just the ritzy ones. Issue # 11 is sure to provide something for everyone. Order by 12:00 pm Pacific time Monday, May 4 to lock in this issue on your subscription!
  3. Yup, Nissan Sport chose Honda Civic for the best vehicle of all time! (hint: it is a Nissan, Datsun or Infiniti.) Title corrected.
  4. Sorry to panic you. No, the minivan did not make our rankings (sorry Quest folks). It was a cheap ploy to get you to read this post—you have only one more day to guarantee you get Nissan Sport’s Winter 2009 issue with your subscription renewal. The issue, releasing next week, features the 51 best (and worst) US-spec Nissans, Infinitis, and Datsuns of all time ranked on a 30-point scale. The epic article will answer many of life’s questions, well, at least questions concerning Nissan. · Which Z car didn’t make our top 10 sports cars list? · What were the best specialty car and truck releases of all time? · How ugly are the ugliest cars Nissan has ever built? · What Infiniti ranking will generate a record level of hate mail? · How many Datsuns made it onto our “best ever” lists? · Which Nissan, Infiniti, and Datsun vehicles are the most overlooked? · Could our choice for the worst Nissan of all time be any worse? · What is the #1 Nissan of all time? The best truck? Best sedan? Best SUV? The Winter 2009 issue also includes a full review of the new 2009 Nissan 370Z (including a direct comparison to the 350Z in seven categories), the launch of our 1969 Datsun 510 project, a duo of romantically linked Nissan Frontiers, a 1970 Datsun Roadster painstakingly restored over decades, and much more. Visit www.nissansportmag.com to check out the cover, the back cover (with more reader cars and trucks, including “dozens” blocked by the barcode on the Fall 2008 cover), and the table of contents. Also at www.nissansportmag.com, you can find an extraordinary New Year’s special on our back issues. If you’re missing an issue or two or you want to start a collection, now’s the time! Through January 31, every individual back issue of Nissan Sport and Sport Z Magazine is 50% off, including our full collector sets (sorry, model specific sets are not on sale). Enter promo code "HALF" at checkout. We know dollars are tight in this economy and we appreciate any support you can afford for our enthusiast-owned (i.e., five Nissan fanatics) publication. Renew at www.nissansportmag.com or 505-771-2374 to lock in your subscription. Thanks for your support!
  5. Nissan Sport is looking for more cover cars! We’ve heard from dozens of you that your car or truck was placed behind a bar code, left off, etc and we want to give you another chance! We’ve decided to run owner vehicles on the back cover for one more issue, and anyone can submit their car or truck. It again can be stock or modified, and we may even use your pictures on the inside of the issue for our feature story on the best Nissans of all time. In order to be eligible, you’ll need to EMAIL your full name, city/state, year, make, and model of your vehicle and hi-res picture(s) to editor@nissansportmag.com. If you were on the cover of the fall issue, you will not be eligible for the back cover of the winter issue – but you may be eligible for the front cover. The front cover will represent the four greatest Nissan sports cars of all time, one 350Z, one 240Z, one GT-R and one Z32 300ZX. In order to be eligible for the front cover, the car must be lightly modded exterior-wise (no giant wings, wide body kits, etc) and the pictures must be high resolution and/or professional. The deadline for being included for consideration for the front or back cover is November 17, and again, entries must be emailed (up to 10MB per email) to editor@nissansportmag.com.
  6. The table of contents for the Fall 2008 issue is now online as well as the cover! This is hands-down our best issue, loaded with compelling stories and rich history. With interviews of many of the major players from back in the Datsun heyday, we cover 50 incredible years of Nissan in the USA. We also spotlight a number of cover car submissions—the best, the worst, and the most unusual. There’s event coverage of the Datsun Heritage Museum grand opening, Blackhawk, product reviews on Turbo Wax and holiday gifts for auto enthusiasts. To order your subscription, call 505-771-2374 or go to: www.nissansportmag.com. Subscribe by October 9 to be among the first to receive the Fall issue.
  7. If it was sold in the US believe it's still eligible. Post it up!
  8. I actually changed it right after I posted - would say within a minute? So I didn't figure anyone actually saw the incorrect date! Whoops!
  9. We're putting over 500 cars and trucks on the cover (front and back) of our Fall 2008 issue to celebrate 50 years of Nissan in the US, and we need more Zs. ANY Nissan, Infiniti or Datsun sold in the US is eligible (stock, modified, beater, doesn't matter.) To enter, just post in this thread with the following information: 1-3 jpgs pictures, year and model of your vehicle, along with your full name, city and state of residence. The editors of NissanSport will then look over all of the entries and choose among them. hybridz.org will have a minimum of 10 cover spots guaranteed. Post the necessary information before Tuesday, Sept 9 be eligible.
