  1. 1st clutch was suppose to be 20% better than stock,,,but, i fried it.

i've heard some good things about the spec3+, that's why i bought it and only spent $525 shipped. i'll just have to see how this clutch performs after i get it broken in.

and i've also heard some bad things about the monster clutch too. i did some research of my own and decided to go with the spec3+. hope it holds 520tq....hehe

I have only ever heard one bad thing about Monster, and this problem was fixed.

I am not doggin you man. I am sure your clutch will be fine. :burnout:

  2. Pretty cool project. I wish you the best of luck. There are 2 people I can think of that tried this swap and ended up giving up. The vertical dimensions of an LSX create a lot of problems with trying to make it fit. You might get by with using a cowl hood, but even that may present some issues. If I remember correctly, the intake manifold/piping is going to cause some issues at the front of the hood, which might make is hard to even use a cowl hood.

My fiance's dad has a Z31 with a SBC. It was impossible to use a stock hood with this set up because the carb was about an inch too tall. They ended up having to put a scoop (actually looks decent) in order to clear the carb.

    Good luck man.

  3. yes, this is going to be a predominantly street car. I thought of a LS1, but it's only making about 350hp. are the costs that much higher for an LS2 or LS6 than an LS1?

Uggg. You are way too caught up in stock numbers. And just so you know, car guys don't use flywheel hp numbers anyways.

Do you know the difference between an LS1 and an LS6? The quoted statement just seems ignorant. If you are worried about what GM said the engine made, than buy the LS6... The LS2 will make more power stock, as well as mod for mod, but it would not be worth the extra money to me. You can get 450rwhp out of an LS1 easily, and that is plenty for a street car that weighs less than 3000lbs. There are several people that have gotten 500rwhp out of the LS1 on a stock bottom end.

  4. Even if that were true (and I am not doubting it) I still refuse to pay that much for a part that will only NET maybe 20HP to the wheels on a motor that will rarely see above 6000 RPM. I'd much rather pay alittle more for a nitrous setup and NET at least 100HP to the wheels.

    Just my 2 cents.

On another note, here is the panel for the custom tail lights. The custom roll pan is next on the list to get fabbed, prob next week sometime.

It will net you under the curve too. I am telling you from experience. If you are keeping the internals stock, then ya, you are probably right. If you ever want to put a decent size cam in it, that 300 bucks for an LS6 intake would be a pretty good idea.

  5. is that a water to air intercooler? but yeah nuts will do that to turbo's just wait till it over boost's and your turbo turns into a grenade..

That is an air to water intercooler. I never was too sure who made it, but it was made for the z31's back in the day. I have never seen another one. It was pulled off an AE from a junk yard... pretty good find eh?

  6. Thanks for the invite. I read thru that forum everyday, but mainly reside at 88hybrid.com. I have been meaning to register with z31performance for a while. lol Keep in mind that the 350 z31 is not mine, I have the much less impressive one. I will have to get some videos of that car running down the street sometime.

  7. I also am not super fond of the interior, but for some reason I think the stickers really work on that car. I guess they are better under the hood than all over the car.

The car is pretty quick. Its fastest time was 11.27, and that was before he got new aluminum heads.

He is actually my girlfriends father. He sold me my first Z, and spread the dizeaze to me. Right now I am dying for an S30 with a V8 swap.

  8. Just signed up for the site and I figured I would give you a little bit of info about my car. I drive a 1986t 300zx. The car used to be pink but I did a shitty rattle can job because I was sick of the pink. I have owned the car for 8 month. I have blown up four transmissions.... t5's suck ass.
