  1. Engine frame rails cleaned up. More floor clean up and prep for subframe connectors. Connectors done. Engine bay frame rails wrapped for strength & factory mounts removed. More soon....
  2. Years ago I bought Marcus's 71 240z which looked somewhat like this when I got it minus the drivetrain and some interior mods that I did in this pic. It then transformed into this fun 10.30 @ 140 R200 ls1 single turbo fun. But I moved on and sold it to a guy in conneticut who then sold it to someone else. I was told the faceplated 6speed was destroyed because of a towing error and some other mods were done. Now it is a solid axle car owned by someone on here. Anyways moving on.. Years later after me and the wife wanted another one. I picked this72 240 jem up in Arkansas. Which went to the garage for a full disassemble and to the blasters. Then back from epoxy coat. Floors had rust so I started the process of removal. To be Continued..................
  3. You could just run a thick insulator pad to eliminate the noise from the trunk area. Metal is only going to increase the noise alone unless you padded it aswell. I would try some noise barrier insulation and set it back there first to see if it helps and if it does then maybe do both or just the insulation. I am going to try insulation when I get mine done because of the road noise issues. Even padding the toolbox areas would help since noise bounces around in the boxes..
  4. Still working on mine. Hope I get some more time soon cause its looking pretty awesome.
  5. Your going to need to "reinforce" that front diff mount. I will have you a pic this weekend of my progress hopefully.
  6. Not sure if anyone has posted this but just for reference. 90 Z32 TT R230 diff next to a 04 Cobra 8.8. The front mount holes are the same distance apart.
  7. Your not to far away. I guess you can bring your car down here and we can get them done sooner. lol
  8. You would think more expensive but its just a brand new housing with races. So it was a bargain. This way I can choose which lsd to put in. Also it will be alot lighter during fab being empty! I have a couple ideas on how I will mount it but it will be a bolt in setup to stock points on the body. Axles I will wait until you get that figured out. Almost time to dust off the tig and get working again.
  9. Just ordered mine. Let the collaboration begin!
  10. I had 2 69 Camaros blasted at $400 each in Missouri. Doors, roof, inside, quarters, rockers, tailligh panel and underneath. Alos I had my 240z blasted recently but partial soda blasted. They did the engine bay, interior and rockers in sand and soda blasted the roof, quarters and taillight panel. This was $750 since soda blasting is double the cost of sand.
  11. Just making sure you used the same cover from page one..
  12. Which year diff cover did you use 07? I think im going to go this route instead of the z32tt r230 I have.
  13. Price is $25? and what do you actually get just the aluminum bracket?
  14. Hes a very busy shop with large projects. 20 sets of headers takes up alot of extra time when you have multiple projects you are working on. I was at the shop a few times when he was assembling all of these. Its definatley alot of work and rushing through them would have caused alot of issues. He has the jig for the headers but not sure if he wants to get just one set of pipes bent for one order but he might. Winter is usually a busy time for projects so you might call him and ask him if he is interested.
  15. It would pass throught the 240z housing if you removed the rear bearing since it is not needed. But the outer joint would be inside the housing after all is said and done which would not work.
  16. Most likley the length of the outer shaft will be the issue as it has to pass through the 240z housing and then through the z32.
  17. The axle will use the bearing in the z32 hub not any of the 240z bearings. I just started looking at this today and have much more to look at. I was just posting to see if anyone has tried this and the progress i have made. I'm not sure if it will work but i will keep you updated.
  18. Your right 33. Was thinking spline count for some reason
  19. There are alot of 72mm OD bearings in 30mm bore, 35mm bore. still looking for 32 Update Found a tapered one. Not sure if there is a race on this side but if not you can put one in. Bearing
  20. Also I measured the Z32 TT axle. The splines are 32. The spline diameter is 33mm. The axle diameteris 30mm. Also measured the back of the stub hub where the bearing goes in and it is 72mm. So you would need a 72mm bearing with a center of 33mm.
  21. It would be just bolting the z32 hub to the flange on the 240z stub housing. Only thing you have to do is cut the bearing race off like I did,cut an adapter plate (3.5"x5" 1/2" plate) drill holes to match the 4 bolt z32 hub flange and 240z 4 bolt flange and cut a 3-3/8 hole for the bearing to clear. You would then use the z32 disc brakes and z32 shorter axles.
  22. Has anyone ever looked at this as a possibility? I was pulling the rear end out of the car to get it ready for the R230 swap and set the Z32 TT hubs next to the stub housing and it looked possible. Ya T3 has a backing plate that they use in their kit but why not just attach it to your existing housing?
  23. I thought the axles were 28 spline? And that post says the hubs are 32?
