  1. I've talked to Ron R. (the original FFIM creator) and he'd do the conversion for $50... theres not much involved, just block off, cut a giant hole, weld on the 3''~ pipe to the manifold, weld on TB flange of choice...

I've never seen the point of spending $800 for a manifold which will get me reffed in a matter of minutes if i have to pop my hood. This way it "looks" stock, obvisouly his wasnt done as clean as it could have been. But i just wanted to give you guys an idea of what people were doing.

I plan to do the conversion after i get a few other bolt on mods out of the way... i didnt see the point of converting my IM to a FFIM while i still had my stock exhaust!

The other option, is that suprasport.com is making a FULL cast FFIM. It looks amazing and should be very impressive as far as flow numbers and the kind of hp/tq you can gain from it. I dont know how many of you frequent supramania much, but theres a large thread on it.

  2. The wastegate line coming off was what killed it. It was on stock pistons for a few years with no problems at that boost. I don't blame the ring lands for breaking, it would have happened to any motor. When the line came off it detonated about a hundred times before I got out of it. Don't trust 1/4" wastegate lines without real hose clamps at 30 psi:mrgreen:.

FWIW, FFM's don't make more power unless the runner length has been shortened.

I know im a noob as far as this site goes, but i just didnt want people to really think that by going FFIM on a 7m is a waste... heres the proof.

18whp and 19ft/lbs of torque JUST from moving the throttle body to the front of the intake manifold... and it also increased the flow.

I think most of the advantages are from getting the cold air away from the hot ass turbo, which is why there were probably any sorts of gains. and then also you have a smoother flow into the manifold, its not just being forced and then pushed sideways like a mushroom.
