  1. That's too easy. Almost not fair. I think that you should take it off and put it back on just to feel like you earned it.

Yeah, that was way too easy! The only hard part was recognizing the clap, it almost seemed like it belong there. This morning, I drove to the golf course with absolutely no problems.

  2. What engine? "Idle adjust" implies an EFI motor.

Your fuel pressure regulator might be bad. The original fuel pump has a bypass that kicks in at about 43 psi, which is close to the regulator target of 36 +/-. I think that the Airtex will pump up to 90 or 100 psi. Your new pump might be exposing a bad regulator.

The engine is L28E and is EFI. After reading your response I went out this morning and checked to see if I had a fuel pressure regulator on my spare engine. I there it was. After I pull it off and went to replace the original regualator and found that the previous owner had a clap on the line leading to the regulator. I removed the clap and started the car with no problem. Because I had adjusted the idle the day before, it idle very high. So again, I adjust the idle to 700rpm and the car runs great.

I think when the OEM fuel pump bypass went bad the previous owner used a clap to regulator the pressure. Thanks for the help.

  3. I replaced my factory fuel pump with an Airtex E8312 fuel pump I got from AutoZone. The pumps fits perfect but now I'm having idle problems. I have tried to make adjustments by adjusting the distributor and adjusting the idle adjust screw. Neither works. The car runs but black smoke is coming from the exhaust which (to me) seems as though too much fuel is being pumped.

Can anyone tell what I can do to solve this?

  4. Imo the shaved rear makes the tail lights stick out like a sore thumb. I can see why some of the other modified rear ends i've seen on S130 cars have used different tail lights. Even the stock ones would be fine if you could find a way to recess them in a bit to make them more flush, might be pretty cool even.

Gollum, it's funny you say that because I'm in the process of making some custom flush-mount taillights. Maybe that's what's missing. I'll take pic when I finish. Thanks!

  5. i agree it looks like it might be missing something, nevertheless it looks really good! did you use a combo of sheet metal and bondo to form the rear? looks like it may have been tricky.... good job!

I made the measurements, went to a local roofing and sheet metal shop, and the guy there made the piece free of charge. I had to cut it in half just so I could manage the piece better. Tack weld and use bondo to smooth out the corners and bottom. I wanted the piece to cover the lip at the bottom but my friend said it would very difficult to weld and it would take a lot more than bondo to get a smooth finish look. So...........

I agree myself that it seems to be missing something, but the more I look at it and the more I drive it, the more I like it. Maybe someday that missing something will come to me!

  6. Looks GREAT !!!! I love the seats.

The seats come out of a 74 240z that I gutted and sold. They were original red, but the previous owner painted them black. I like the seats, so I bought some DupliColor Vinyl paint and wa-la. You see the results. I like the way they turned out. Don't know how the paint will hold before I have to do it again.

  7. Nice who painted it BTW? That's close to the Gunmetal on the R32 GT-R....

If you are looking for wheels PM me and I'll put you in touch with a guy in Waldorf that has mesh wheels for the S130.

My best friend's brother did all the body work for me. All I had to do was buy the paint which Metallic Gunmetal Gray and rent a paint booth which cost me $75 for the day. I got the paint from the Toyota Camry. The paint code is 1G3.

I have the wheels, I just need to put them on. The one on the front is actually one of the wheels. There are 16'.

  8. Wow, those look pretty nice. Big improvement. How did you do the black trim inbetween the grey areas?

I tape it off the gray areas enough to get under the seams. It was tedious but worth it! It's just something to hold me over until I can found something I really like.

  9. I am hoping to update that thread soon, since I've got about 8 more years experience with turbos since I wrote it. ;)

Drax240z, thanks for the post there's a lot of good info. Could you drop a complete setup list for those who don't know what they doing like me in the updated post? I was just thinking I could get a manifold, down pipe, and an ecu and be on my way but I know now that there's more that goes into the swap / setup.

  10. Those Type III's always look like they're angled wrong - seems like they point up. I mostly like them but they come down about an inch too far and they seem to tilt.

I noticed that too, but in the advertising on Zstore it looks straight. I'll be working on it this weekend. Hopefully I can find a way to make it work without f'ing it up.
