Unusual Ronal wheel - What model?
3.0Retroride replied to primadonna z's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Compomotive has a wheel that looks alot like, but slightly different. They appear to only come in 15", but you might want to call Alan and check. You can get them in about any offset/width. -
Yeah I just saw some 29,900 Quad Cab v8 dodge for 17,900. Glad I sold mine when I did. Can't buy a used one and justify it if you can buy a new one like that. Hard to get a good deal on used trucks sometimes, plus unless you pay cash you get the good rates on new.

I strongly believe you will be more reliable going Jap. I bought an 03 quad cab hemi and had enough little stuff go wrong under warranty that it would have been expensive if I had had to pay. Alternator, rear seat belt (plastic ring cracked had to replace the entire setupI sold it before I had to start paying for all the crap as I figured the next 45k would be much more expensive than the first. Other than that and the 12mpg avg. on a 2wd, I loved the truck. Also to note, the doors would blow open slightly in strong sidewinds on the highway just enough to where you would hear air coming in. Not real impressive. My tailgate seam was starting to rust by 3 years old. Even in KC I was not impressed at all with the lack of rust protection. Dodge drove alot better than the Titan, however I never drove the Tundra. Hope that helps. Dodge is a great truck if you don't mind a little maintenance and are in a place where you won't rust. Very fun to drive and still good looking. Hope that helps

Looks like a great super-car that could have used a little better styling. I will agree that is a little unfair without seeing it in person. I guess I would have to go with the "penis car"(porsche) as far as the looks are concerned. We definitely have to drive these cars before we can really judge them, too. Despite looks and performance, some cars are just not that fun to drive. I'm betting the GTR is way more fun to drive than to look at. But it would have been alot more exciting if they could have made it look a little more like the nissan race cars and a little less like what it turned into. Anyone else think it looks like a beefed up G35? I think that the old z cars are going to keep my attention for a little while. For half of the 70K and a little over 1/3 of the projected price of the GTR you could start out with a pristine 240 with no rust, heavily modify it, Make sure it has a good A/C so it's a little like a newer car, and possibly even get all the exhaust leaks to keep from entering the cabin. What more could a guy ask for? I guess I'm way old school but with a few exceptions most of these new car designers are not impressing me with the cosmetics.

ZG flares on the 2+2 w/sportmax 002???
3.0Retroride replied to bubbleguinea's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Are they really rubbing the suspension and the body? If so, I'd be calling the wheel man. for a credit or trade-in. You shouldn't have to buy coil-overs and flare a car to make a set of wheels work (and that's assuming you don't have coilovers yet). Can I ask what you are doing to get a 13 sec quarter w/ a 280 n/a? Is that 13 flat? I'm running a Rebello 3.0 and have to rape the piss out of it to get a 13.6. My speed used to be about 104 and it has dropped 1-2 as well. I made some changes and don't seem to be able to find my way back. Currently Weber 45's/MSA 6:1 Header w/alot of cleanup and rewelding to match port/2.5" exhaust/MSD/ late ZX 5sp with a 4:38lsd. Car seemed ALOT happier in the quarter mile with the stock 4sp and 3:36. Any suggestions? And Twincam 1 Fast Z- Maybe you can answer my previous Q? How does the car handle with the wide rears and narrower fronts? Are you able to adjust suspension to neutralize or does the car understeer with that setup? Thanks ahead. -
ZG flares on the 2+2 w/sportmax 002???
3.0Retroride replied to bubbleguinea's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Also- One reason I have been hesitant to flare is that with my setup I will end up with something like the 9.5/9.0 RB Setup. Long term that will probably be great with a V8 Swap, but with less than 300 Engine hp now I can still scrub the tires nicely through 1st and 2nd gear, my wheel/tire weight is low, and the car handles exactly the way I want it to with the same size wheels tires at all 4 corners. No doubt it will look cool with the flares, but I'm not sure I will like the overall outcome without getting into more suspension mods and more hp. Anyone out there have a comment on wider rear tires/wheels and understeer/pushing and how to overcome it since it seems that most people end up wider on the rear with flares? -
Rebello 3.0 Advice with aTurbo Install?
3.0Retroride replied to SC LOC's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
According to what I remember about my Rebello 3.0, with pistons only the engines come out to 2900 and some change, but to get the true 3.0 they have to stroke the crank slightly. -

Also- They are the ones in the photo to the right of the black car that look like partial fenders/quarters. -
ZG flares on the 2+2 w/sportmax 002???
3.0Retroride replied to bubbleguinea's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Hey Derek- I have the jim cook racing flares Pg. 13- the black car at the bottom. Note- The front flares on the car in the photo do not match the rear flares, nor are they the front flares that I bought. I have the front which match the rears, and have never seen them on a car anywhere or in photo's. My uncle had the rears only on his z back in the early 80's and they looked really good (supposed to model after an old 911rsr design somewhat from what I was told). If you or anyone knows of these mounted on a car that I can see, please let me know. If anyone wants to buy them please let me know. If not, I will save them for car B. -
ZG flares on the 2+2 w/sportmax 002???

Man I hate to confuse you but that car looks great right now. I would not do the flares unless you fill them up, but I can't advise on wheel spacers either. I have heard that the good ones are very durable, ie. on big 4x4's the suspension/control arms get pulled apart in wrecks but the spacers were fine? But I still hate the idea of having one more link to potentially go wrong. I say it looks great = time to make it go faster or save some money. Just remember once you cut that thing up it's hard to go back. I have my $500.00 worth of flares sitting in my garage and think I'm gonna keep her stock after all. Tough decision for me. -

Slightly off the main focus but thought you all would get a kick out of these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lPBgtRLmIE Scary Fast Golf: You Tube: O my god! damn fast GOLF GT over 1000hp And for something just downright stupid nuts-glad our families are not cruising that highway! You Tube: Suicide Drift Sorry the last 2 wouldn't throw the correct link on here. GOLF is worth a look for sure. We all need that kind of horsepower in our ZCARS! -
Sorry. Not all (non-bolt) products are bond on to existing panels. I'm told that the rockers don't bond onto the existing rockers, but replace them. I still want to find out more and will be in touch when I get more info. Gary is trying to find some photo's and info. and I will be sure to forward all that I can. Sounds like these panels were made to the original specs. of factory panels dimensionally. Something we all would be happy about.
-
I think what Gary, and then I tried to say is that he won't break out any one particular mold to make 1 piece. When he gets one individual mold out, he wants to make a min. of 3-5 and have them all pre-sold. Otherwise, it is not cost effective to go through the process.
-
Just spoke with Gary from Smoothline and he said they are out of production but they would build if they could get and order of just 3-5 or so of each part that we want made. The pricing he quoted was vague but sounded like it would be on the higher side (no more than 350- 400 for a fender is what I was told). I would be interested at the factory direct prices listed in the thread, but am not sure that I would go the distance on the retail end. I think that a production of 5 each would yeild some serious buyers and be easy to get rid of at the right price. I would personally like one of everything for one of my cars. I wasn't planning on the project right now, but would consider it. Anyone out there think it would be a good idea to put together a group buy? He said that fitment was not a problem and people were happy with the product when it was in production. For anyone who doesn't know, my understanding is anything bolt on is replacement, and anything else is bond over existing. I have done the latter with a car in the 80's (different manuf. parts) and it actually was a great option for a car that has body rust if you are not worried about originality (especially if your like I was at age 18 with 0 welding experience and just wanted to get it done with limited tools). Just cut out all the rust and glue these panels right over all the remaining metal. I think this would be a great opt. for my second 240 that I consider to be a car that is far enough gone that I would NEVER put the kind of $ in for a real resto, yet solid enough floor/frame rails that I hate to do away with the car or part it. Anyone?

Rota RB 17x9.5 update?
3.0Retroride replied to 3.0Retroride's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Thanks Wizard- Saves me about $1,400 with the alternative of purchasing some compomotive CXN's that I have always wanted. If I must I will still purchase the CXN's as I will have full control over offset since I am running different flares. I never see anyone with Compomotives. Reason? Great looking wheels and Alan seems really helpful and knowledgeable. I get alot of mixed info. on wheel spacers. Some say no way, others say completely safe if installed properly. Also concerned whether spacer/adapters can be used at d/s events or in racing? Anyone have the answers?
