  1. I've started to play around with left foot braking...although mostly in the virtual world :)...rfactor with a Logitec G25 to be specific. And it seems to really allow for nuanced control.

I've tried in my Focus SVT...but power assist brakes...very touchy. Whereas with the 240z, I can see it being a bit more forgiving. I definitely heel and toe in every day driving...then again, I've been practicing for about 10 years. But I'm curious about using left foot braking a bit more.

  2. Hey guys. I am just about to update the points in my '70 240z, and am just about to pull the trigger on buying the Pertronix and 1.5 coil. While I'm at it, I was going to replace the wires as well. Any recommendations on what works well with the Pertronix stuff? http://www.carshopinc.com seems to have the best prices - just not sure on 7mm or 8mm wires.

    Thanks!

  3. I don't know that I'd say competitively ;), but I do dabble.

    - Do a bit of karting (PTK/Rotax)...probably the best bang for the buck - tons of seat time, but it requires really being in shape...

    - Have done some track events - time trials and schools - back in the day in a Corrado. Hoping to get my 240z safe and reliable enough to start doing events

    - Hope to get into vintage racing at some point, will start with Skip Barber and SCCA license

    Cheers.

  4. Hey guys. Found a local 260Z owned by a little old lady who kept it in, what looks to be, excellent shape....aside from one very big issue - the front of the passenger side frame rail is rotted out. It's so strange because the rest of the car is so solid and clean - almost the perfect barn find...just in a city garage :). It's just been sitting in a parking garage collecting a thick layer of dust for 2 years or so. I'm not actively in the market for a project, but hey...if something interesting comes along like this...I'm going to look :icon6:

So I know this is a vague question, and there is probably no perfect answer....but:

Based on the pics, what would you estimate (roughly) for cutting this area out, and welding in appropriate pieces? I'm trying to figure out if even a low offer on this car will be worth it (a few hundred bucks) - considering the repair of this area (which I would have to farm out) and the thing hasn't been fired up in a couple of years. BTW - this is the Northeast.

    Thanks for any thoughts.

    Cheers!

  5. Hi guys....First time poster here. This site is a great resource...thanks for all the good info.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but I think part of the escalated values are based on geography. Here in the Northeast, people pay a bit more...considering so many S30s rotted away in these parts. I'm lucky to have a picked up a solid 70 240z a few years ago...feel like the values are shooting up within the last year or two....maybe due to buyers in the rust belt seeking out solid cars...that are a rarity in their locales.

Side note - I just cruised West Coast Craigslist posts (LA, OC, San Diego)....man you guys are lucky....so many solid cars to choose from for nice prices....thinking about shipping a couple back east :burnout:
