  1. I named my Z The Kid, after the Sundance Kid. I have had my car so long I cannot remember how started calling it that. I must have watched the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid not long after I got my Z back in 1985. But it is still The Kid to this day.

My Mustang, Truck and my wifes Maxima have not endeared themselves enough to get a name.

  2. I took my 8yr old. It is like crack to little kids. He is running around the house re-enacting the movie. Just one scene he asked about and as soon as the acton picked up he forgot all about it..

  3. I have a Microtech LT12 on my 280z turbo, L28ET engine. OK long story short the ECU's memory got dumped. Does anyone havee access to the Microtech base map that would work on my L28ET. It is going to take me a month to get one from Ausrtalia. Let me know if you can help.

  4. I can't believe I live Pueblo and did not know about it. Notlike it would have changed things since it was my wifes birthday. I don't think racing the Z on her birthday would have gained me any graces.

  5. I am prepareing to install some 01 Miata seats in my 78 280Z. The hinge where the adjuster lever on the Z gildes attach to the glide sits back and hits the seat pan of the miata seats. My question is, if I cut a cannal for the hinge to move in will it weaken the seat as to make it unsafe? If I do cut one what would be the best way to reinforce the cannal?

Thanks as always for the help

  6. I have a l28et in my 78 280z, intercooled, with an electric fan. In the upper 90 to 100 degree days we have been having it has been overheating. The fan is working correctly and they tremostat is new. I figure it must be my old radiator not being up to task. Is a stock radiator efficient enough to keep my car cool or do I need to find a radiator from a 280zx turbo, or from another type of vehicle. Whatever will work well and fit relatively easy? As usual thank you in advance for your help.

  7. I am getting a L28ET engine installed in my 280Z. It is in and running but very rich at idle. Here is everything I have on my car. HIgh pressure fuel pump, 240sx tb port matched, TD06-20G turbo, intercooler, 400cc ~ 440cc injectors, microtech lt-12 cpu, and stock internal. On boost it runs fine. Off boost, (driving around town), it is running so rich it fouls the plugs. I have read about guys running larger injectors that the ones I have, how do they make them work. From everything I have been able to find out, with a programable cpu you should be able to run these larger injectors. What am I and the shop that is installing the engine missing. I have been in touch with the folks I got the cpu from but not much progress has been made. Thanks for the help.

  8. Amen. All I want to add is that the people who make up HybridZ have been professional, courteous and very helpful. I feel this is a tight community of Z lovers and people just coming in to start trouble really have no place here. To me HybridZ is my library I come here to research, study and learn. I think it is a great idea to hold people to a higher standard.

  9. I am in the process of having a 280zx turbo engine put in my 78 280Z. The guy I have doing the install for me and I got into a bit of a discussion about the location of the air filter. He (the mechanic) said it needed to be up in front of the IC. I said he should just keep it in the engine bay. His arguement was that the colder air from the front of the car would make more horsepower. I said that the temp of the air coming in was not that big of a deal since it was going to get seriously heated up going through the turbo, then cooled down from the IC. It would be much easier to keep the filter in the engine bay. Which would be the best? Thanks for the help.

  10. I am currently installing a turbo engine from an 81zxt into my 78 280Z. The tranny in my 81zxt was an automatic so I have an oil cooler. My main question is where do I put it in my 78. In the 81 it was inside the right fender well but I don't have the room. Where else has anyone put their oil cooler, if they used it. Thanks for any help.

  11. I was talking to a guy who is big in VW bugs, the old ones. He said that they could grind down or grind off extra metal from the stock flywheels and make a perfect fuctioning 9lb flywheel from the stock one. He said they wrapped up like hell. Has anyone ever tried this with a 280zxt flywheel? I do not know the specifics about either vehicle, was just wondering if this was feasable?

    Just wondering??

  12. I had never heard of much less thought about ZG flares until I saw this post. Now I am seriously reconsidering how the exterior of my Z will be finished. I used to lean more to the clean side now i do not know, those flares are damn cool. Oh yeah I am going to have to track down some Watanabes to go under the flares.
