So hows the turbo conversion going?
I got a stock L28 N/A efi bottom end with a N42 head and was just wandering if i use a 2mm head gasket only running 7-8psi will do the trick on a turbo application?
Many thanks in advance
Need to get my car up and running asap

Ticking injectors...?!?
-
Unlucky man, that happened to me over Christmas last year, had to take the timing chain cover off to put it back in.Only cost me a day of working on it though...
-
Quite a bit more work than one first anticipates, gearboxes, starter, clutch, clutch pedal, cutting a hole for the clutch pedal but a very interesting mod if you have the time to do it.I agree with MJLamberson, start your research mate...
-
Did it cause more damage or can you get away with a minor overhaul, shaft, seals etc?

So hows the temp fix on the leak holding up?

Check the radiator cap too, could also be a small contributing factor.
Check what pressure it can handle, the lower the pressure, the faster it will cook. With TDC,the crank pulley mark is on 0,the cam sprocket usually has a groove behin the number 2 which should line up with the little hole in the cam...
Ring any bells...?

OK,shes up and running beautifully.
BOOSTING!
Ended up using my stock L28 ecu and wiring harness, the L28et dizzy and AFM and shes running happily.
This life she is good...

Yup,shes smokin tyres LOL!
BOOSTING!
Had an interesting time getting her started i must say....the previous owner or someone who worked on the motor before me must have put the shaft that turns the dizzy in the wrong way.So i had to contend with that amidst tryin to figure out why she wouldnt fire...LOL Not something that immediatly crossed my mind to check in the first place...

its in the conventional spot, you can see all the blue plug leads in the cap just behind the rad...
What i would like to know is where the breather pipe from the valve cover goes to....?

I like the way that most of us build cars that are way past legal limits lol

If you dont skim both surfaces, chances are it will pretty soonish...even snailing it i reckon a week or two before the symptoms arise once more

cool, i ran a water pump like that for months....
As far as your lifters go,do they tick only when cold?I always set mine when my motors cold too
-
By sucking air i mean literally between the intake manifold and head(not the vacuum).Same theory as blown head gaskets with uneven surfaces...
-
Bring it,catch me if you can haha.....
-
Ok,the pulley noise would be the key-way breaking up but this would probably cause overheating because the pulley runs the water pump etc etc.Have you considered that your intake might be sucking air causing the pinging by running too lean...?Somewhere between the intake and head?

Try replacing the regulator, its a little black box screwed onto the back of the alternator with 2 wires plugged into it.Mine wore out, idiot lights occasionally came on when turning sharply and when first started on idle.Actually started overcharging my battery to just over 14volts,changed the regulator and problem was solved.Give it a go,they dirt cheap so not much to loose...it might save having to replace alternator...
