Prfect that is what i needed to know the only thing i am still confused about is i was told that a FS5W71C from 86-88 200sx is identical to a FS5W71C from a S13 but that the one from a 86-88 200sx is about 2in shorter and has a difrent bellhousing for the CA. is it true that 200sx FS5W71C is shorter but otherwise the same as the one from a S13?

sweet that is good to know, i was hoping so as there are tons of those around in the junk yards but yeah I am going to keep looking for a L-series trans only if i can not find one locale will i consider the bellhousing swap idea. Thanks Kyo

sweet thanks for all that info, so from what i understand you extended the oil pickup from the factory l28et rear location? is that a better way of doing it? i have heard poeple both drill the front oil pickup location and extend from the rear. do you have a pic of your extended oil pickup? Thank you much for all the info it is very helpfull and also while talking to a friend today he asked me a good Question. could i block the factory dipstick hole and then run a new dipstick right in the oil pan? via a tube welded on the pan for dipstick placement ? would that even work? I am trying to figure out if it is possiable for me to run a front sump pan and not have to drill anything in the block. so my plan as of now is relocating the oil pickup and fitting a front sump oil pan and running a dipstick in the pan (if that is possiable?) Thanks Kyo

I have thought about putting it in a Z31 Has any one done that before? i dont think i have seen one.

the 84-88 nissan 200sx is a CA sohc 4cyl. that is why i did not know, you can put a s13 or s14 tranny on both the L-series Zcars as well as the CA 200sx from my understanding with a bell housing swap.. so that lead me to blieve i might be able to put the (easy for me to find) tranny from a 84-88 200sx on to my L28et. I searched but could not find any info about using a 84-88 200sx tranny on a L-series only using a 89-98 240sx tranny on a L-series I also know that the short case "C" tranny from the later year's 200sx (87-88) will bolt up to a KA so from just learning that I should be able to use a short case "C" tranny from a 87-88 Nissan 200sx with the same Prosess as if i was doing a S13 tranny on a L-series please correct me if i am wrong in this thought I strugle with Tranny info. Thanks Kyo

ok i am having a blond momet tonight.. i need a 5 speed tranny for my l28et and from what i understand i can use a FS5W71B from a 280z it is just weaker then the T-5 from the turbo 280zx right ? or no ? also if i can does this mean i could also bolt up a 5 speed tranny from a 84-86 nissan 200sx as they have the FS5W71B as well? and if that would work could i also bolt up a FS5W71C from the 86-88 nissan 200sx? the reason i ask is there are a lot of tranny's from the listed 84-88 nissan 200sx in my locale junk yard and also they are both shorter then a 240sx "C" tranny ( is that right?) so if/when i pick up a s30 z to put this motor in i do not what to make the changes to the car that i would have to useing a s13 or s14 tranny. if it would not be a bolt up deal what would i need to do to use a 84-88 nissan 200sx 5 speed "B" or "c" tranny on my L28ET? Thank you for your help i really dont understand trannies and any advice is helpfull to my learning.. Thank you Kyo

Thanks for the extra info do you have any more pics/info for relocating the dipstick then what is on your thread? i have thought about putting the l28et in a car that would need it to be front sump and the dipstick is the only part i am bit stumped on? Thanks Kyo

Hi i am looking to getting my first S30 Z A 1973 in fact this is what i was told about the car and what pics i have can i get your opoin on whether this is worth the $1,200 he is asking 1973 100K + auto VIN hls30149383 and a copy of what he sent me ""The rust is not too bad, as far as these old Z's go. It has holes only in the rear of the front fenders, the driver's side door, and the rear quarters in front of the rear wheels. The under hatch area has some rust, but no holes as yet. The floor on the drivers side under the feet has a hole about 1" in diameter. That is about it. The rails are fine, and the car appears to never been in an accident, as things line up well. The car runs out well, and I am sure the charging problem has to do with a bad ground somewhere. Interior is fair. It had no console, so I bought one for it, but I have no hardware to install it properly. There is no radio. The guages all work, with the exception of the clock The trani goes through the gears very well, shifts nice. Yes, if the charging problem was fixed, it would make a good daily driver. Another thing: the car has the earlier S.U. carbs on it, and they are much easier to tune, and to keep in tune. The stock carbs were Hitachi, and they were prone to huge problems with tuning"" now i dont mind that it is a auto as i have a L28et with 5speed motor set i pulled from my brothers wrecked 280zx but i know little about body work and i do not want to get over my head as of yet with rust.. so is it worth his asking price and is the rust he told me about a major problem? I thank you for your advice all the best Kyo sorry for the long post thanks for your help
