Hey so I am trying to get a new ignitor for my motor since the motor did not come with it. I am wondering if anyone knows if there is any difference between the JDM Aristo Ignitor and the USDM Supra ignitor? From my searches I can only find used ignitors on eBay for the aristos and I would prefer to stick with new factory parts. Does anyone know the right part number for an ignitor for an aristo 2jzgte VVTI?

Read it: http://www.jkowners.com/tech/lights/
That was a great read. Thanks! I also just visited your site and it seems you also have a nice option for headlights.

I put these lights in my 2013 Jeep ($400). According to the documentation they use 1/2 the voltage and last 30,000 hours. They were worth the money for my Jeep and the Z is getting them when it hits the road.
How was the brightness when you installed them on your jeep?

Kinda has a Rocket Bunny feel to it. I like it! Lol, What size wheels and tires are in that pic?

I have stock twins on mine and overboosted without a restrictor ring. I still need to get a fuel cut defencer for mine as well and swap the jdm twins with the usdm.
What kind of exhaust were you running?

I am ready to buy one right now..... Lol

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience using LED headlights on their datsuns? I was thinking about trying something like the Truck-Lite brand 7" round led headlight they make for jeeps. It has a standard H4 connector. Has anyone had good/bad experience?

I am curious how long it will take before these start to become available. You say $400 is aprox where you are hoping to sell for? I had started the process of swapping a 2jz into my datsun however I have been waayy too tied up in work and no longer have time to work on it and if I can just shell out some money and cut out a large time consuming portion then so be it eh? Lol

I know it'll be a big project. No doubt about that.
But I honestly don't think I'd spring for a 400whp Datsun, unless I made a custom tube chassis similar to what you would find in a trophy truck and then bolt the body panels and interior to it.
That'd be ~$10k for the chassis, including labor from a body guy in town, but assuming I had the plans already, but unless a detailed engineering schematic exists digitally already, I don't think I could design one without all the mount points of everything and detailed measurements.
May be worth it, since the tube chassis could handle 800whp pretty soundly, and no rust. But the initial cost is daunting. Perhaps in the future it could be done. The year is 2077 and all them bitches at the retirement home want to get in on my forcibly preserved Fairlady. Only stock part that remains is the measurements of the wheelbase and the body panels, and something about robot armageddon.
My plan would be to, instead of saving X amount of money and diving in headlong, I'd save up the parts and tools needed. Buy the motor and trans, FMIC, harness, ECU, driveshaft, etc whenever I find a killer deal and can spare the money, and leave them in storage until I have everything, plus some money for unforeseen expenses.
The bargain hunting should be able to lower the price, cumulatively, by about $2k, maybe more. And the parts could be used for a different project or resold if things didn't work out.
That said, this isn't something I'll actually be doing until after college, unless I get a good job during.
But I like to be able to account for things while I'm saving. There's a page of ideal swaps, but none for what it would take to get it to drive gently on the road. No drifting, autocross, or drag racing until much later (If ever).
I was wondering a similar thing. I've started the process of doing this swap and I've been documenting all of my costs in getting the swap running in stock condition. Hopefully if time allows in the next few months I'll have a price list for a stock 2jz swapped datsun.

Gotcha. Cool lol I would rather over think it and make sure it's safe than go blindly and ruin something. Thanks

So from what I have been seeing on here it looks like most people just switch to single turbos. Im wondering if anyone has experience keeping the stock twin turbos and what size downpipe you are running. The stock output flange for the aristo is 2.5" and I have heard that if you go any bigger it will drop the backpressure and overboost. Has anyone experienced this? I would hate to have to run a 2.5" exhaust to be safe to only have to replace the whole exhaust a few years down the road. And if it is safe to run 3" I was thinking about removing the stock collector and making my own so that the exhaust would be a true 3" and not restrict down to 2.5". If anyone has any info I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

With that setup will you need to run a surge tank as well?
-
Oh gotcha, are there any axles that can handle being lowered that much? Or is that why you are going to swap to the s13 rear end?
-
Wow. Why so many broken drivetrain parts? Isn't the r200 supposed to be pretty beefy? You have wheel hop issues?
-
Haha Oh yeah! I can't wait to get the jz in my car.
-
Im curious what did you do for the fan. I see an electric fan, how is it working. Any overheating issues?
-
You can swap in stock oil and temp sensors easily, then they work. If you have a 280, the tach works, the factory speedo cable will go right on an r154, speed difference depends on tire size. With 225/50/15 its about 5mph off at 70.
Cool, I have a 260z so what problems will I run into there on the tach and speedo? Also I was going to stick with the auto for a while and see how I like it.

Haha yeah I do tend to think about things that are down the road. I just like to make sure I can get as much info as I can before I start. So if switching to aftermarket gauges what kind of gauges are you guys running? Are there aftermarket gauges that fit into the stock location that contain more than one gauge? I'm not entirely sure how I would get all of the gauges I need/want.

Sorry if this information is floating around somewhere but I have not been able to find it yet. I am new here and have decided on doing the 2jz swap. Hopefully I can add a build thread with a different perspective on the swap. Haha. I am wondering when doing the 2jz swap is there any way to retain all the stock gauges? From what I have read it seems like everyone just swaps out for aftermarket gauges which I would like to do eventually but for right now I would prefer keeping the stock gauges.

Sorry if this is a silly question but i feel like it wasn't expliciyly explained in the wiring advice above. So as far as the EFI relay goes for our Z's, we basically just get a 30 amp relay and wire pin 24 to trigger the relay and wire pins 31,32, and f6 to be powered by the relay correct?
