  1. So, Ive been having fun, running around gathering parts. Picked up a 94 302, cobra spec T5 in georgia for 800 bucks.... got some 93 cobra spec ported gt40 heads today, with a new 16lb flywheel. trick flow springs .575 lift capable, and comp cams (stud mount) rockers for 400 dollars. I cant wait for the Laine mounts and cold weather to get here.... I'm torn, because when I got my 77 280, it wasnt running. after tinkering, it is basically a "daily" now, with the 6. I did a 120 mile round trip to get the parts today. Still, I am a child of the 80s, and I want that V8 rumble...... I bought a 93 miata years ago, to 'Monster".... but didnt because, I found out it was an "LE" {1356 of 1500}.... this 77 I'm going to "rape"..... I've become attached to it,,,,, yet I'm not going to let that stop me. Bring on the cradle and trans mount, ive got an engine hoist, jack, and jack stands awaiting .... going to read through the forum, until it gets here. good luck to all, about to get into this also.
  2. 16x8 is all the xxr comes in. 16x7 seems to be rota/wantanabe (sp), which is beginning to look like a "stock" rim, so many people are running them. No offense to the guys running them. I was looking at varrstoen v4s. But everyone is sold out. They were a +15 offset though.
  3. As it says. if you had it to "do over", what would you get? Went too big, went too small???????? Im currently rolling on the 14" steels (with hubcap) on a 1977 280Z. in the market to go to a 16" xxr 531 with possibly a 225/50/16.... on stock suspension. 0 offset is better than going +20, right? I've searched and searched google, forums, here, there, everywhere.... Seems to be conflicting reports of will work vs. wont work. having to roll fenders vs. fits fine. I'm not deadset on the XXRs, that's the reason for a more current post than 2008 . I'm a noob, looking for enlightenment, beyond my search skills. And hopefully this thread will help others, who search after me. Thanks for any info.
  4. so, the 351 block will stick though the hood? planning a 5.0 roller out right now, but would love to do a 408 stroker. the 351 is just such a stronger block
  5. months ago, before I got my Z; I stumbled across his site. You should read the entire thing. It's very informative, entertaining, and comical at times. I like the guy and never met him. I was disappointed though, to find out yesterday that he was out of kits. His site was a factor in me finally getting a Z. If more kits were in avail, I'd buy one. Otherwise, I will use his plans for the motor mounts. I'll keep checking back to see if he tools up, as I am gathering parts (engine/trans/etc). Everyone now seems to be doing LS swaps. I'd like to stay with the blue oval.
  6. i just joined, so i could quote this. that was funny, and I agree. I've had my 77 280 for 2 months now. messed up and ordered drilled/slotted rotors and wheel bearings for the stock 4 lug hubs. They'll do for now. Mine still has the inline 6 for now. Plan on doing a lot of reading here, and a LS swap. However, I dont want to do fender flares / body modification. Phantom, you are saying 17" will fit on a stock suspension, without flares. I know I'm talking out my azz, at this point without research. Wouldn't I have to convert to 5 lug, if I do a LSD rearend, with the CV joints? Seems like I've read the stock U-joint rear end wont hold up???????????? not to hijack a tire thread on my first post. Because I would like to know the best wheel/tire size I can run, but dont want to pony up for 4 lugs now, to find out I'll have to get 5 lug later. I'm running the stock steels with stock hubcaps right now.
