  1. Looking for the longer vales with 2mm or so longer stems than what is in a p79 or p90 head

    the lengths in mm are:

    N42/47 Int: 115.2 Ex: 116.0

    P79/P90 Int: 113.1 Ex: 113.9

    email or txt is best

  2. Actually it's been heavily researched and a p79/90 with flat tops that .010 matters you need to get the piston as close to the head as possible to squish the air more into the head chamber to reduce detonation. I've done the research, it make sense. I think it matters and when building a very specific engine it is a huge determining factor for power when considering compression and detonation thresholds.

But ive also heard bad news about the Felpro gaskets. I'm really just wondering if the ones msa sells fit a p90 or what because my p79 and 90 have the same oil passages and it fits for a f54/79 combo it should for a p90 as well than

  3. Can't seem to find a supplier for this I'm wondering what the best option is for a 1mm head gasket on an engine with a f54 / p90 combo and where I can find it. I'm specifically looking for a 1mm gasket or a layered gasket possibly?

Also curious as to what the difference in a gasket for a p79 would be, can one be used? This is a non turbo application

Thanks for any help in advance!

  4. ive also been thinking of doing this swap, i have a n47 just sitting in my parts car ive been thinking of swapping... so to answer some more specific questions for the poster and myself..

With the msa stage 2 or 3 cam in mind, can the car run on stock efi, and be "fine" if yes or no, what are the drawbacks? basically i wanna know if im going to ruin something by not getting megasquirt or something right away.. and will the gains still be greater than the losses?

Timing can probably be taken care of in some way with the stock distributor as the last user posted, correct?

  5. Ok so i have a parts car, 280zx 2+2.

I know you can buy the rear fender for a coupe from black dragon or some others, but i need a 2+2 piece, so I need to cut this one off, and have a body shop weld it on most likely.

Problem is there is no way to get the undamaged non running parts car to a body shop to have it removed, to have it placed on the damaged car.

So, any quick tips on how to cut this off easily? or is there no easy way to do it? am i even capable of doing this? i have the time, and patience, but probably not the tools, or knowledge.

by looking inside the car i can see its attached around the door, and where the wheel well sticks out. and the rear obviously

I would need to whole piece from the door below the window to the back of the car.

I saw a thread by searching of a guy who did this, but no info at all really.

Am I in over my head?

  6. hey man go here: http://www.xenons130.com/reference.html

and download the factory service manual for your year.

those are amazing refrences for any issues with your car.

Im not sure where those things tie in at wiring points, but it sounds like old connections may be corroded etc.

one thing ive learned from these cars over the years is that its rarely the device thats bad, its a connection, relay, etc.. but sometimes otherwise... but you can track it all down with the Service Manual

  7. Sorry, I should have clarified, this is a turbo conversion project,

It is a NA engine, but ive got my turbo, manifold, new pallnet fuel rail, 450cc dsm injectors, etc, so i will be needing megasquirt.

Can I use my NA distributor with my turbo setup + megasquirt? Or do I need to be getting a different distributor for that?

Thanks for the replies, I was have a really hard time figuring out what kind of distributor the zx na engines had,

seems as most people here have switched out their entire engine to the l28et, along with the dizzy, or used the stock zx turbo ecu with the dizzy + injectors swapped as well but im obviously not going either of those routes...

  8. sorry if that seemed rude, but really, i dont want to fight over the internet, but I know the frustration of many other members when they are just told to search. There are some people out there that just dont understand the internet and its search features.

I am not one of them.

And the people who are, should just be ignored!

  9. Thank you for your prompt replys telling me to search.

I may only have 17 posts, but thats because i am careful of what im posting posting because people like you, assume people like me, have not searched.

I actually pm'd every one of the for sale posts for turbo parts posts or a post including a manifold. That doesnt mean I cannot put an ad in the WTB section to try and find one does it?

Geeze, lay off the people with the YOU NEED TO SEARCH. Its rude actually, and it gets old.

I found my part now by the way,

Thanks to all that replied that werent just trolling.

  10. hey man, not sure if you got your zx issues figured out quite yet, but just to share my experience....

my zx started dying on me on the freeway randomly just cutting out, but since it was still moving, would being firing up again if left in gear, but would die at stop lights, or if put in neutral, etc. this was killing me for a few weeks of driving i was so frustrated. sometimes it wouldnt start back up and I would have to go fiddle with some of the wires connected to the distributor to get it to start back up...

Did this in the middle of many stop lights, so funny, people gave me the look, like i was... that guy..

I replaced all my plug wires, coil wire, distributor cap and rotor, spark plugs etc, and ...

my issue turned out to be the inside of my coil, not the wire, but where the wire plugs in, was rusted. scraped it out with a screwdriver and now im back in buisness, didnt even need any of that stuff i got new...

not sure if you checked your coil, or replaced it, but just my .02

in other words, be sure to check ALL connections for corrosion etc, because even replacing the wires wont fix that.

  11. swap in a turbo, get an intercooler, new fuel/intake/exhaust system.

you could upgrade the suspension.. but if you like the way it rides as is and wont be racing, then its probably not a priority, as long as you dont have sagging issues, or bad shocks etc, then you may as well upgrade.

when you get to the interior, message me or something, I have tons of pictures of everything I did to restore/change the color of my interior from tan to black, including fiberglass fixing broken panels, dash and new pieces, fiberglassing speaker mounts for the doors etc... it was all very cheap, and looks 10x better than stock.

If you need any help with that its my specialty, and I live in Seattle as well.

  12. well while this thread has already been bumped again I though id note that the zx was only called a zx in the US release correct?

The japanese models were still a 280z?

I just thought it was funny seening all the people argue about how it wasnt just a Z anymore! who cares, and the nissan/datsun still called it a z!.. most of that arguing on the threads linked to this post not directly here so don't take offense anyone please!

Considering the engine stayed the same, id say nissan probably would have called this a 290z or similar... if they changed engines, but they didnt. There is an obvious change in body style, but that doesnt mean a mustang is not a mustang, even though the 80s mustangs were terrible and looked nothing like the older or newer ones.

I love my zx, and the random chrome bits are only on the 2 seater, granted people dont like the 2+2 as much, but there is full chrome trim around the quarter windows on a 4 seater. And I think the trim on the doors/fenders that most people remove actually compliment the 2+2 model well. But thats just my .02

Modified 2+2s are hard to come by though, and people dont like the rear end look as much, but even a 2+2 model is lighter than any production corvette.. dont quote me on that, but i know they are ligther than almost all, even about the same weight as the light package z06. And lighter than most sports cars similar in style, sure if you want to be almost as light as a honda or other small ricer then you might need a 240 to get there.

My opinion on the zx and the reason I like it is because its still got the older z style in it, to some degree, not as "boxy" as the z31, which is what I think failed most 80s sports cars... but the s130 was still sleek, and as stated before, better aerodynamics than a s30.

I would consider this the first well designed "Luxury" sports car. and thats how nissan may have adverstised it, but as said before, what sports car these days DOESNT have all the features the 280zx has? barely any. This was just the first time it was introduced in a z.. just as every other manuf. did it for their models.. just a few years later maybe.

  13. Sorry noob questions here...

New injectors mean new ECU system?

Ive got a 80zx that ive been trying to get running and need new injectors so was thinking of upgrading, but is it going to be a nightmare for me to reprogram/ swap a diff ecu.

I want to use the eclipse injectors because they come kinda low priced, and maybe get a new fuel rail, I would have to with those injectors at least..

But am I going to have to swap my ecu or can i reprogram the stock n/a ecu to work with these injectors? I will be turbocharging later so if im gonna swap an ecu I want something that will be up for it I guess.

  14. what are the ratings on the 2 different hoses you are talking about here?

I bought some that was rated 50psi, and its being used from my pump to my damper, is this going to leak???

I guess ill have to get under there sometime and see what the ##s on it are

  15. I saw a thread once about the eclipse injectors and cant seem to find it now..

They seem to come pretty cheap so if you are looking for a new fuel rail anyways this is probably the best bet.. does anyone know if the Blue (1st gen) or Black (2nd gen) injectors from the eclipse turbo are any different in a Z setup?

Ive read that the 2nd gen has a dual spray nozzle, but flows the same, its believed to have a better result with the 2nd gen eclipse dohc, but will this affect a z at all?

Could I get either and they would be the same? this is my assumption I just dont want to "assume"

I was interested in the RX7 Injectors but I do not know what years are considered the "early" and "late" injectors.. Id rather not have to modify them, or the intake to get them to fit proper.

    Anyone know those years?

Thanks for anyones help in advance!

    Bryan
