  1. hmm.. so i read somewhere else that a guy cut and rewelded his subframe two and a half inches lower instead and didnt have to cut any firewall. thats the rout id rather go, but then idk how his shifter lined up... i woner what it takes to just connect the z32 transmission to the ls1. hell id rather take the tranny and motor to a shop and say "make these two connect and work" then pay them and put the think in the car. that seems much easier and cheaper than getting a t56. then i could get motor mounts figured out and all id need then is wiring, exhaust and an intake. then cooling i guess.

  2. If you want this swap looking clean with the stock hood without hacking the radiator support you WILL be peeling the firewall back to have the T56 lever exit a stock location. If you want to do it just commit. It will look dirty before it ends up clean.

    Edit:

VinhZXT: The stock dash fits just fine with the accessories. The gauge cluster has to go because it's useless after the fact, but the instrument pods on either side will be retained.

why does the gauge cluster have to go? couldnt it be wired custom? and couldnt a custom shaped shifter be made to come out the right location?

  3. i agree. at this point ive done enough looking at ls1s to know theyre great, and its worth the money, now its a matter of whether i can do it without ruining my dash, gauges, and floorboard. if all that interior can stay, im all for the fabbing. and how do you move the firewall back? does that mean just cuting sections out and rewelding a more spacious area, or actually moving the whole thing? cuz i thought the firewall was one with the rest of the engine bay...

  4. well since i could have all the tt swap parts for under 5k from z1 id say deff under that. hell i was hoping to spend under 1k for the tranny and close to no labor until the wiring... but idk if thats gonna happen. the main reason i wanted this was to save money. but after looking arund im not sure if ill be able to keep my interior shape after grinding for the tranny... unless i can make a z tranny possible.. i would spend money to get a built one from z1 if i could connect the two..

i heard somewhere that its impossible... what all does it take to match a tranny to a motor?

  5. ^good friend of mine is in mississipi helping his temporarily paralyzed uncle since a motorcycle accident. his uncle and uncles friends who are his dads friends are all drag guys. well one of these guys my friend know and who is supposedly a real good guy has a 2000 firebird and is selling the motor cuz hes upgrading to an ls6. so i guess hes not in a possition where he needs a lot of money. my friend told me i should get it. so he used his judgement that it was a great deal and called me in ohio to jump on it. if the purpose was to ♥♥♥♥ someone over, i proby wouldnt be pulled into the picture. it is only the motor tho, no tranny. just wiring harness is included. it has 83k miles i think is what he said. so i was gonna ask, what makes the z's tranny impossible with it? whats the cheapest tranny rout that i can take with this thats manual?

  6. Thats a good price. I'm not sure if the 2000 came with the LS6 intake, but if so then you can expect to see anywhere from 315 - 325 at the wheels. Some guys get stronger motors then others. And of course if you add headers, exhaust, intake, cam, you can expect to get more. Theres plenty of info on here of mods, and what people have used. My car for instance, has shorty headers, 2.5" dual - 3.5" single exhaust, a torquer V2. cam. and 243 casting heads. Dyno'd 411hp 380tq. headers were 400$, exhaust was roughly 300$, cam was 250$ used, and the heads were 525$ shipped. 1500$ for roughly 100hp increase isn't too bad, no?

ok, i know with most turbo cars, upping power means less low end, more top end. so will i have similar effect on an ls1 or will i only be upping th mid range? ultimately, id RATHER lose a tiny bit of grunt for top end with the ls1 cuz thats what im used to and i think it would be easier to drive and more fun than overwhelming power too fast then feeling it trail off before the shift...

  7. ok not the best but compared to my na z thats awesome. what i really need is a line on what needs done. aka, where to get the t56 or anything else that would work?, do i need custom ecu or stock firebird ecu?, will headers fit enough so that all i have to custom make are test pipes? im kinda a noob and dont have the means without guidance.. i think i spelled that wrong...

  8. i can get ahold of the above. my question is, for the 2000 ls1 out of a firebird, what kind of WHEEL hp could i expect if i put this in my z32? also what do you all think of the price? im a newb when it comes to anything other than nissan so idk much about the ls1 other than its light as ♥♥♥♥ and has the range of power i think i would be happy with.

im also wondering how easy it is to add power to this motor for relatively cheap?

  9. so ♥♥♥♥ has to be cut with this addapter kit? what all has to be done(fabing) to get a vq running successfully in a z32? and if you know, would the vq37 bolt with this adapter just like the vq35?

    thanks

    keith

  10. yea, i just looked at a couple sites and ls1 crate motor for 7-8 THOUSAND. thats more than my good condition z was to begin with.. id agree with keeping nissan assuming i could get my hands on a vq37vhr... of curse they are new so its probly $$$ as well... but hey, same power, same alluminum, WAYYY better sound...imo at least. v8 and vq are totally diff. i like v8, just not the same place in my heart as the vq as far as sound
