If there is one thing that really makes me jealous of the Z guys it's the weather stripping availability for the S30s. There's nothing more depressing than finding a puddle of water on your rusting floorboards after a rain shower knowing you'll be spending lot of time and effort on fixing them in the near future. I envy being able to buy a complete body gasket kit for a couple hundred bucks when that wouldn't even cover a single ZX door ! *sob*. I guess I'll just have to drive on sunny days and keep the Z under the carport until the day come that the weather stripping is affordable

Coincidentally, I just posted a Q to ZMOW about this on zcar.com about 20 minutes ago. There was a post back in May where he said he was working with Precision to hopefully make a few different body gaskets and weatherstipping pieces one at a time. We'll see what he has to report- Good news hopefully !

I would think that some fresh grease is always a good idea when replacing a torn boot. Check your inner tie rod end for wear while you're in there. If the boot has been torn for significant length of time the grease could be washed out of the inner rod end. I recently had to do the same thing and the inner was trashed (clunk, clunk, clunk)
I believe the hose between the two boots is simply to allow the air in the collapsing boot to transfer to the expanding side when the wheels are turned while keeping the system sealed.

POS is right. It works but you'll notice all the blast media all over the place. 'Fit and finish' apparently doesn't translate to Chinese hehehe. I'm glad the 60gal 175psi compressor I got from them does work

The machinist who I took my head to for work threw in a free bead blasting. He's a former-racer-turned-machine-shop who has a soft spot for old Z's. I liked the results so much I bought an el-cheapo blasting cabinet (background) and a bag of glass bead to finish up all the other little little aluminum pieces.

A running 1983 ZXT I got for $100. It burned oil like there's no tomorrow and has the floor pans of the flintstone-mobile. I've rebuilt the motor, rebuilt the steering rack, replaced the ball joints, inner and outer tie rods ends, bearings and rebuilt the door hinges. In the spring I start on the body work and drop the rear end and clean it up. Maybe work on the tranny. I might be done in 10 years or so at this rate

Weather Stripping
in S130 Series - 280ZX

I have to admit that my seals are working better since rebuilding the door hinges. It brought the door back up to where it should be and the glass meets the upper seal like it should. It isn't perfect but its a lot better now.
