I initially started doing the same by splitting the inner fender and bending it up, but didn't like all the gaps and it didn't fold up cleanly. I ended up cutting it out and butt welding in filler panels.  I didn't see a lot of info on how to do it, so created videos to share with anyone looking to do it.  Link to my channel with the videos is below and documents the whole process.

[Bagged Rocket Bunny 260Z build]

Just getting going on my 260Z rocket bunny build. Starting with a really clean 74' 260 that I picked up in Atlanta.  Supposedly sat in a barn for 32 years, and it looked like it probably did.  I'm installing a rocket bunny kit and doing a custom airlift performance air bag suspension.  I'm documenting the build as I go, you can check it out here if you are interested.
