  1. Hi everybody! I've been reading/searching info from this forum for a while now while I'm workin on a 280Z/LT-1 swap with my dad. I keep searching for some kind of indication that someone has run a longtube setup on a V8 conversion 280Z, and I can't seem to find anything conclusive for LT-1 engines. We got the engine/trans in the car, so it's crunch time for all the other bits we gotta get on the car to get it running. I was looking at the long tube headers for a V8 conversion on the zcarparts.com store: (http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/PRC01/10-1832) and wondered if anybody had gotten them to fit on a similar conversion, or any kind of Long Tube setup for that matter. I have a 1977 280Z, LT-1, T56, JTR mounting kit. Has anybody run a longtube header AT ALL with the JTR kit? Thanks.
  2. Ya I posted a topic about this a while ago too... and was curious to see what people with some experience thought about wheel fitment with the stock fenders. I'm looking at a similar setup. I have the 5-lug, 4 wheel disc brake conversion from Arizona Z car. I also have the coilover upgrade. I've seen people on the forums (like Clifton) that have 17x8 fronts and 17x9 rears in non-flared wells, with the EXACT SAME suspension/brake setups we got, ktown z. The sizes I was looking at were: 17x8 +25mm offset FRONT. 17x9 +15mm offset REAR. Tires to go with them: 235/40/17 FRONT. 255/35/17 REAR. I talked to Dave over at Arizona Z Car, and he says that the 5-lug conversion naturally adds a spacer distance of +0.5" to the FRONT, and +0.75" to the REAR. Thats +12.7mm to the FRONT, and +19mm to the REAR. I originally wanted to go with 17x9 +15 ofset at all four corners, but I don't know if the FRONTS will clear the full movement.
  3. Awesome! Thanks for the advice! It's really hard to get an idea of what might fit without any experience, and without being able to actually measure the clearances on the actual car... (it's getting Soda Blasted right now). The only reason I posted a super direct question like that instead of trying to figure it out, is that I am now on a time schedule to get this thing done, and I need to order all my parts real quick. I can't get the suspension on the body right now, and I need to order wheels/tires that'll fit when they get here.
  4. So I've been looking at all of the various wheel sizes posted in the "Wheel Show!" thread, at different member setups, and I was wondering if somebody with a bit more experience could help me out: I'm looking at getting some 5zigen 17" x 9" +35 offset wheels (the same that Clifton has on his grey Z). I want to run 245/40/17 tires, or maybe even 255s at all four wheels. The probelm is, I have not found anybody that could tell me what it would take to fit them in the stock wells using the COMPLETE Arizona Z Car setup... I have the coilovers, the control and radius arms, and 5-lug disc brake conversion at all 4 corners. Front brakes are the 13" cross-drilled, but all four wheels will have the 4-pot Willwood calipers. The chasis is a 1977 280Z regular 2 seater. Aparently, Dave over at Arizona Z Car says the 5-lug conversion adds a .5" spacer distance to the front wheels, and .75" to the back. So... does this 17x9 +35 wheel on 245 tires setup, sound like a viable option in a car with STOCK wheel wells, and .5"/.75" spacers front/back? THANKS FOR THE HELP!
  5. Hi everybody! I'm also trying to figure what will fit in the 77 280z I'm building up.. and I wanted to know what everybody thought of trying to cram a 17x8.5 RB 5-lug wheel in there. I'm running Tokiko struts/springs (not coilovers) and utilizing the Arizona Z-Car 5-lug racing brake convertion (effectively adding a .5" spacer to the front and .75" to the rear). Brakes are the 4-pot Wilwoods on 13" vented/drilled fronts with 12.2" vented rears... so I think 17" size is a must. I've also been looking at some 5Zigen wheels that are 17x8 with a +25mm offset, and 17x9 with a +15mm offset, besides the Rota ones shown in this thread, but I'm worried that the possitive offset will = suspension rubbing, even with the additional spacing on 5-lug hubs. Ideal tire size for my baby would be 245/35/17 all the way around.. or maybe a 235/255 front/rear thing, I kinda like the wide rear look. watcha guys think? BTW nice looking setup o.p. nearly the exact same as what I'm trying to get going (mirrors/paint/moulding) =)
