It is a crate motor that my friend says is rated at 280hp or so. It has a Mallory HEI distriibutor and an electric fuel pump mounted underneath by the fuel tank. The engine is Carbureted as well. I started reading the JTR v8 conversion manual again so maybe I can figure this out alone, but having a person along would be awesome too :)

I have a 1972 Datsun 240z with a v8 conversion that I purchased from a friend that moved away. It has sat in my garage for about a year and a half now, and I would really love to get it fired up and running  He had taken the dashboard out to repaint the entire car and that never happened. I haven't been able to get the car to run since having it towed to me. I connected all harness plugs after re-mounting the dash, and have purchased the JTR manual along with multiple wiring diagrams in color. The starter turns over, and I do get lights on the dash as well as the head lights and tail lights. I do not get spark nor fuel it seems. Anybody close to Tyler, Texas want to help out ?  I bet it is something trivial that I am overlooking. I am not a mechanic,  but am an enthusiast for sure.

That is some sort of sticky adhesive or sealant actually. Luckily it is not rust

Hello fellow forum members ! My name is Patrick and I just wanted to introduce myself. I joined the site a few days ago and have been scouring the forums for information to help me get my newly acquired 1972 240z up and running. I purchased it from a friend of mine that had initially taken the interior out to get the car repainted a different color. That never happened and he was too lazy to put it all back together. The car has a CSB V8 swap and a 700R4 Auto transmission. There is no rust of any kind that I can see, and the interior is in great shape. The biggest challenge for me is going to be putting the dashboard back in and wiring everything. I currently daily a 600hp Volkswagen GTI, and also own a 1991 Nissan NX2000 that I absolutely love. Here are some pics of the 240z currently. I look forward to learning more about this platform from all of you. Thanks for your time !

Did the PO cut the firewall at all? It just looks like the engine is sitting really far back.

 

 

The firewall wasn't touched at all, but it does look pushed back quite a bit in the photos now that I look at it  Carpet should be in today, and then I will start putting stuff together and get it started this week. I LOVE zcardepot thus far !

Hello All !My name is Patrick and an owner of a newly acquired 1972 240z in paint code 112 with a CSB V8 swap  I bought the car for a steal from a friend of mine, and am planning on a few trivial mods before I start to enjoy driving it. I just need to get the dashboard and some interior body panels installed as my friend was planning on repainting the car. I am so glad that he didnt because I love the Lime Green/Lemon Green color.
