  1. Maybe check for a good ground on the igniter, some of the models had an issue with bad grounds on the igniters, or they were just faulty to begin with. Hope that helps.
  2. As long as your getting a full 12v to the coil, i would look at the other end, mabe take a test light and connect it to the positive on the battery and test the neg side of the coil (without the coil connected) to see if you have ground leakage, that could cause a partial collapse of the field withing the coil.
  3. The 1986 and 1987 305/350 cast cranks have the same casting #'s, so i would assume that as long as both donors are either both automatic or manual transmissions, the balancer is the same. If it's any help, i'll look it up in the interchange manual for you when i get home.
  4. Your right, all the 1986 to current 1 piece seal gen.1 engines are externally balanced and take different flexplates or flywheels, they have a smaller bolt circle "3.0in" on the rear crank flange. I thought the conversation was about the older gen.1
  5. The crank on the Chevy 305 is the same as the crank in the 350, the only differance in the 2 are the bore size, they both use the same balancer. All the sbc v8's , 283, dz302, 305, 307, 327, and 350 are all internally balanced and can share the same balancer, the sbc 400 is externally balancer, thats the exception.
  6. 010/020 Chevy blocks are becomming very hard to find.
