  1. Most of the information I have found shows the 76 auto cars as having R180s.

My 76 had an auto trans and an R200.

There is no way to tell if it was changed by a previous owner.

The best way tell if you have the R180 or R200 is to find a picture of each diff and crawl under and take a look.

    Hope this helps.

  2. Thanks for all the good words guys.

I fixed the transmission cooler line leak. Just a loose fitting on the transmission.

The car is drivable now, but the brakes are really bad.

I got my brake kit from Ross yesterday. It's the 4x4 toyota setup. Should get it installed in the next week.

My alternator is an 80 amp Denso from a mid to late 90s Camry. A local auto shop that a friend of mine owns got the mount and made some aluminum spacers for the pulleys to align the belt.

Pete, I learned how to wire relays from reading some of your posts and your web site. Now I put them everywhere. Maybe I'm a geek too.

I'll give the hood a try. Thanks

  3. I have hooker block hugger headers into 2.5 inch pipes that Y together behind the transmission mount and go into a Dynomax super turbo.

When I get some time, I'll put together a web page with a bunch of pictures.

Yes it is an AIRGAP and I have a 1 inch spacer under the carb. The spacer helped with clearance around the fuel log and heater hoses.

There is about 3/4 of an inch between the hood and the outer edge of the air cleaner. I think the engine will move more than that so I'll have to do something. I may look for a cowl hood scoop.

  4. Thanks guys....

I have been reading this site for almost a year now. It was time consuming to get information when the search function was down, but the info is there.

Hey Dan, we had fun at the Rio Vista event. It took almost 12 hours one way with the stops for food and gas, but it was worth it.

No open headers, I had the car towed to a muffler shop before starting it. Like the JTR manual says, it would have been easier for my wife to hear my screams for help.

I have a transmission fluid leak from the cooler lines to fix before I can drive it. Soon I hope!

  5. This is my first post. I started the V8 for the first time a couple of days ago. I had to tell someone. Using the search function and browsing the posts has provided me with so much information and answers to most of my questions. This site is great. I talked to a few of you guys at the Rio Vista event this year, hope to have my car there next year.

My car is a 76 with a 350 (JTR), a 700R4 and enough fusible links and relays to make Pete Paraska smile.
