So, I voted for a gun metal grey but lost to my finance who wanted orange. This was taken about 10hrs after 5 coats of clear was laid. I did all the body work and painting myself. This makes a total of 2 cars I've painted in about 8 yrs so im far from pro. Paint was nason base covered with zolatone clear. Cheap stuff since I know I will be in a constant rust battle and figured $1000 in paint was stupid for something that will be repainted in 2yrs or so. Sprayed with a cheap $50 gun in a buddies paint booth.
Sorry about link

I've seen the double hump connections and have them on my 12v diesel. Just not sure if the humps with clear the fan in that particular spot. I guess I could try and move the connection more towards the fender and away from the fan, just more fitting and welding lol. I was hoping that the engine wouldn't move much and I wouldn't have to worry about it but sounds like i'll need some more flex.
-
I have this 3" piping carefully placed behind the rad fan and in front of head etc. I want to weld the pipe together rather than deal with a coupler/clamps so close to the fan. I'm concerned about the engine rocking on the mounts and whether I have enough give in the 2 90's (one on turbo and one on I/C)
Thoughts/ opinions would be awesome!

Did you use that standard expansion valve to replace the canister style in my 78 280? I braze a/c lines and such but that looks like a total pain.
-
So has anyone here cleaned out their expansion valve only to end up with a leaking O-ring? I'm a mechanic and work on hydraulics on a daily basis. I must have spent 2hrs trying to re-assemble the valve with a new o-ring with zero success. The fit is tight and there is no taper to allow the o-ring a smooth transition into the housing. I greased, picked, prayed, cried, danced, etc. Does anyone have any information that could aid in getting this assembled without leaking? I have a spare core but it has been sitting for years taped up and defeats the original purpose of taking the valve apart to clean it.

Yes sir, I don't even think the cable was taunt in the pic but it clears fine.

I was going to run this as a firewall mounted setup but just didn't have that fuzzy feeling about it for some reason (although I know it would work). This is a stock l28et Manifold that I've shaved etc. I tig'd a 1/4" aluminum plate to the manifold and then drilled/tapped the plate to mount the xj4.0 IACV. I though about putting it on the bottom but need the room for my wastegate/turbo junk.
-
I'm running a GM-4 turbo from a GM diesel. t3/t4 setup. The diesel actuated the wastegate from the vacuum pump and therefor there is no spring in the actuator.
I will make a new removable canister end to support the rod and the spring. I'm guessing I'll be somewhere between 15 and 20 psi MS2/EDIS/440cc. I would like MS to control the boost through a boost solenoid but I need to know what base spring rate/pressure I need!

Thank you. I was searching under fuel tank reservoir since that was the label in the FSM which is more than likely why I didn't find any posts about it.

I made a thread in Vendors forum here: http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/96988-factory-t3-turbo-output-flanges/
If you have any questions, or would like me to make any other parts just let me know.
I have a 4'x4' CNC plasma table. I can cut up to 3/8" reliably. I usually have 1/8 3/16 and 3/8 mild steel on hand. Also have 1/8 aluminum.
Thanks!

OMG I want one.

I had a chance to meet up with Derek and purchase on of his kits at a local (gainesville, Fl) car show. Great, honest guy to do business with !
I haven't had a chance to install it yet as my car is in epoxy primer/ bondo state of mind.
I can promise you tho that his product is solid and if you are thinking about EDIS, these kits are a no-brainer. Quality workmanship and I get to keep my AC which might not be important for those of you in mild climates, but here in FL it's a MUST with me
Later,
Adam

Looks good Adam. I guess you won't be driving it over to Bill's on Saturday!
Derek
I might need a helping hand or those of an army to pull that off
Are you going to have some EDIS stuff with you at the show?

Can't wait till mine looks like that - i've got a lot of metal to replace first tho.
I was in your boat until i escaped a couple days ago !!
Good luck to ya! Taking the time and doing it right is always worth the extra effort!
-
I only made a run on the door in one place. Not bad IMO for having not sprayed in 5-6 years. Even then I only painted my CRX
Nason epoxy primer over "au natural"
No on to the bondo fest

how much should I "activate" to spray a 280 with jambs, but not the hatch or front valence?
If I activate some, then spray, and need more, do I just mix some more?
Or do I need to activate more than I'll need the first time?
Thanks

sounds like some mixed reviews. I live in fl so rain is certainly a factor. The car is stripped and now is the time to do it if i'm going too. Already shaved marker lights, keeping side vents tho!

I think i've convinced my self to start cutting tomorrow. Anyone regret it after chopping them off?

nice! I'm in the process of replacing the bushings around the spindle pin. I have completely destroyed the pin on my press and it hasn't budged. I might have to make something like your setup! In the meantime I will probably end up sawzalling the pin on either side of the cast section so i can get the swing arm off. That way I can put the cast piece in the press and it is either going to move or something it going to break

If you don't have the bolts I'm sure I could dig some up from my collection of bolt buckets.
I don't have experience with upper intake studs but I'd trust BRAAAAAAP and MAG's advice.
Ok, sounds good. I have studs and I have bolts !! Bolts sound like a good idea!

I don't know what to think of it... maybe it's the lighting in the pic, but it almost looks like the original 240z orange, except... faded?
I like the black trim as well. Definitely black hood vents and perhaps black air dam, etc
-
This is going on a turbo manifold setup so maybe i'll have more room than a carb setup? Ive never owned a vehicle with carbs
There are 4 larger diameter studs and 11 smaller studs so i'm assuming the larger ones are for the intake !
-
Do some searching, did ya?
http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?p=1033728
(11) Exhaust/Lower Intake studs/bolts
(4) Upper Intake bolts - different ID and length [Two short two longer]
There should be 21 holes on an L28 head - the other holes are pre-drilled for carbs.
Apparently I suck at searching!
Guess it's easier to find something if you've posted in the thread
Thanks a lot !!! I was worried as the zip-lock with the studs had a hole, and I found a loose stud in the box. Normally that would be fine except for the hole USPS put in the box !!! luckily the one loose one didn't fall out !
just painted z. newb painter here
