  1. The motor the Z33 should've had! At the rate they are going, Nissan will be releasing a 450Z for 2015...

LoL Ya , i went to the local Nissan dealership to pick up a small weather strip for the engine bay but they couldnt bring it up on the computer so i had to pull the car in to service garage and when they popped the hood they lost it lol:mparty:

All the sales men came out and kept wanting me to crank the car up. I was a little worried about the reaction but they loved it:mrgreen:

  2. Did you guys attempt to test fit a VQ tranny before opting for the Rb25 tranny? The VQ tranny holds quite a bit of power. I was just wondering if that would be a nice alternative transmission if one were able to make it work with the RB.

I know of people that have tried but the gearing would have been better with the Rb25 tranny.

  3. One hell of an engine swap guys. The VQ's only advantage over the RB seems to be it's weight and dimensions. Which brings me to a few questions...

What are you guys doing in order to compensate for the added weight, especially the weight that is now over the crossmember?

The trade-off seems to be well worth it though... The RB will definitely be easier to work on and reach power goals a lot easier than the VQ.

When you guys do finish up your car and get all the kinks worked out, you guys might want to develop a mounting kit that will allow customers to be able to attempt RB-350Z swaps on their own. The market is out there... people who have upgraded from S-Chassis that now own 350Z and want a route to more power would definitely buy something like this. A lot of them may be experienced SR swappers and the only thing that would be holding them back is the fabrication of a mounting solution. Please think about it.

In all honest after removing all the unnecessary material and comparing it to having the VQ with all the additional Twin turbo stuff Its not that different. Keep in mind how much weight a full tank of gas adds too lol. It evens out pretty nicely, not perfect but not enough for you to honestly tell.

The kit id definitely an idea that his been getting some serious thought :icon10:

  4. Alright guys, i know its been a while since my last post but we had a few little things to work out. I picked up the car today and even with all the black ice on the road the thing sounds and feels amazing!! Ill have some videos up soon :icon46:

  5. Got it on the dyno yesterday but had an slight idl problem. Ended up being the Power FC sensors for cylinder3 & 4 but at the last min being tuned it ended up shooting smoke and flames around 6,000 RPM and just not making as much power as it shoot at our 11 psi break in tune. Gonna take a look at it next week after the Thanksgiving break, prob something to do with the fuel regulator but will know for sure next week. That being said i will not be taking it to the "Land of the Great" event but hopefully ill have it for good next week goodjob.gif

  6. The fact that this is your DD def. changes things. Trying to keep the car as simple (less things to break) makes way more sense. Either way, congrats on a sweet build.

...And if you ever do decide to go nuts, it's not like we'll say no ;)

    Thanks :-)

  7. Is that actually possible??? An awd rb26 350Z would be a kickass project if it didn't require a lot of fabrication work. the AWD could be turned off for the fun RWD stuff then turned on at the track.

Ya thats true but this is a daily driver and didnt need to spend 5-10k more :icon45:

  8. Where do you have the motor sitting in relation to the axle centerline in front?

I was just thinking getting the G35x hubs and springy bits and use the GTR box and front differential.

    Then You'd have attessa too...

From what i can remember it sat in there pretty snug but didnt interfere with the stock swap bars or axle. But regardless i feel rwd is more fun and i wouldnt like to imagine the wiring nightmare that would be with the power fc :icon56:

  9. awesome build man. were the axis wheels your first choice?

Ya it took me a while go figure out a simple style that i wanted. Got them in gunmetal and had them painted black but am gonna get them redone in satin black after the swap, along with the front and rear emblems.

  10. Well that's a pretty nice build you've got.

But would you mind if I played devil's advocate for a sec.

Why not take the G35x front end and make an AWD 350Z? That would be crazy.

Thought I'd throw the idea out there in the event you're feeling frisky.

    Nice Z33 though.

Naw its fine lol. AWD came up when we where planning out the swap and after driving around sti's and Evo's it just wasn't a direction i wanted to go with. As for the G35x as far as i know of its an auto and i like my z manual. Plus im not sure how well that would have worked out with the rb lol.

  11. Nice build man. Just curious, what motivated you to do all this work as opposed to putting a twin turbo setup on the VQ or something like that?

I have driven twin set up 350z's and i didnt like the way they felt.Plus i wanted to go in a different direction to build a motor that was not meant to be boosted :burnout:

Links are fixed guys, sorry about that!

  12. I bought my Z new back in 2005 but could never figure out what route to take untill driving my friends rb powered 300zx.. I was hooked! After being shafted by a local vendor in the area i ended up with useless motor and was referred to Lethal Injection by a local Forum. Being more then willing to help they hooked me up with a fresh block to begin my swap in exchange for mine and the planning started. The cars been at the shop for roughly 4 months dealing with a lot of trial and error but is counting down its final weeks before completing the swap.
