  1. I upgraded to maxi fuses but now there's an issue with the alternator connection. When I hook up the lead from the maxi fuse to the alternator the car won't start. If I remove just that wire, the car starts but doesn't charge from the alternator. Also the dash volt meter stays at 12V when the wire is connected. I know the alternator wiring splits off and goes elsewhere but I cut at the fusible link so that shouldn't be an issue. Any help is appreciated

  2. Another member here gave me the idea, it was not cheap but I thought it was the right way to go.

I bought a kit from Tanks Inc. with a weld in drop for the top of the tank. The kit has its own pump, and sump etc. The kit was about $230 plus the drop in $45 with shipping etc almost $300, plus having it welded in was another $200. So I am in for $500 but I have the stock Z tank with an in tank pump, stock sending unit and I get to keep the spare tire well and will not likely burn up pumps. AND I do not have to listen to the pump.

I could have cut the floor and just top mounted the pump insert onto the Z tank, but then I would have had a hole and a bump in the floor to box in. It would have saved about $250.

JMHO, your money, your decision, your car, your floor. HTH, Richard.

  3. I finally have all the major parts to complete the rear end suspension and drivetrain. What I don't have is hardware. I think I have what is needed for the suspension but for mounting the differential I got nothing. Does anyone have a parts diagram showing hardware to mount a long nose R200 in a 78?

  4. Hi,

I'd like to find out if the owner of this blue 2+2 is still active. I have some questions about suspension setup, wheel size and offset that I'd like to ask. Any help is greatly appreciated.post-7841-0-43273900-1470331857_thumb.jpg

  5. It's almost rear end time with my build. I have a 78 2+2 that will have a 5.3l V8. I would like a stronger differential but don't know which way to go. I've been trying to read up on the Ford 8.8, Q45 and Armada installations but there's so much information and incomplete information that I feel lost. Here's the question. My car will be pushing around 400hp, which rear end would you choose? I'm looking for something that doesn't involve a ton of fabrication or special parts. Thanks all

  6. I was wondering if anyone of you have bought carpet from 1aauto. They have a kit for around $160 which is a good price but I don't know about the quality.

  7. Well my cap just arrived. I have to admit that I didn't even think about finding out about the thickness before purchasing, I just looked for the cheapest one. So, here's the review. I got what I paid for. It looks good but it's about three times as thick as a child's Halloween mask. The openings for the three center gauges are slightly oval-shaped. I may be able to work that out.

  8. I have a similar thought several months ago about using the raspberry pi option. My thought was to have the apps full screen and having a small joystick in the center console to swipe left or right to select your app and push down to click enter. Similar to what some of the newer cars have today. This way the apps would take advantage of the full face of the gauge.

  9. I was wondering if you guys could give me some information on hard to find parts. I have a 78 and I'm looking for inner fenders, the plastic pieces, but I can't find any anywhere. Is it common to leave them out? Second I need the fender to body weatherstripping. I can only find it for 30 bucks a piece. Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative? Thanks for your help.
