  1. I just set an extra block with heads and intake to mach up where everything will go .I had 6 differernt sets of stock ls1 manifolds lying around the shop they all suck. I did by the headders from jegs and pass side great driver side not so much but....... Lucky i had the jtr sbc adj kit and i had the v8gm to ls1 adjustable conversion mounts engine with headers are in my 83 zx. Both mounts have forward to back side to side adjustment. No fab ness yet. I will have to shave some for clearence on the pan by the frt bolt that holds the steering rack so that motor can be moved 1/2" over to the pass side for driveline alinement. The header on the dr side will have to be notched by the collector.I had a sbc in my car a few weeks ago loved it 200r4 shift kit,2600 stall converter and tci lock up converter billet servo and 10 valve body. The engine was 650 holley 4bbl mild cam sold the engine for the ls1 because carbs have a fuel smell that i dont like and too heavy weight wise u can feel it in the brakes. Cast heads and block and water pump not that great, ls1 hell yea.   2. Do you have any pictures of oil pan modification? I had a sbc in my 83 zx and pulled it out sat. Now for the ls1 engine i am using the JTR kit with the small block older chevy to ls1 conversion mounts off of ebay the adjustable ones for 99.00 it lets you put and ls1 in an older gm. I hope it works. i have all kinds of stock manifolds for ls1 but i saw som block huggers from jegs. They look similar to the jtr sanderson headers they meet in the middle and go strait down. Any pointers on pan would be great. thanks Kirk Eilertsen

  3. Slot out the engine subframe, i did it on my zx with th350 . I did that so i could get max adjustment out of the jtr kit the first time. I also had to trim an ear off the tran bell housing with air saw once i started to bolt trans in. It was not a structural piece but a casting piece. I will be putting a 700r4 in my zx in a few weeks because i need overdrive. I will post any changes i made.

  4. Grumpy ,my car was doing the same so i used the wide band at my shop and primary jet was to big a 66 primary and 77 secondary. Airfuel was like 10 so i put a 64 jet for the primary air fuel now 14.9-15.3 cruising speed under a load perfect.And when i get on it it was about 13.9-14.2. I would recommend to find a wide band to borrow to take out the guess work. I was wanting to burn my car to the ground before that.Your jet might be to big and loading up at idle. Also make sure when you set the timing that you disconnect tha vaccum advance. Mine is set at 30 deg, hei distributor thats my 0.01$

I have been drivin my car with no problems for 2 weeks now no fuel ,first- yes it has gas .second- i have mech fuel pump and when disconnected from car and turn engine over it does pulseate with my finger on the end of it so pump is good.Next, i thought it was carb so i rebuilt that. I have the stock fuel pump electric unplugged because it would have too much fuel pressure if i used it ,unless i use a regulator. The mech pump was pulling fuel strait thru the stock pump why not now? Also new filter, and i just pulled it off and checked it also.please help i want to drive my car

  6. I have a squatting problem and i want coilovers for the rear. I put the stock springs in the rear because my 25" tires rubbed a little when i get on it. Is the someone who sells just the rear coilovers at a decent price? Or should i buy some spacers for the springs to make it harder in the rear if even avalible.I dont have a lot of money and the tokicos knock my teeth out they ride so harsh in the frt. Any help or pointers would be great thanks kirk

As far as gas milage goes i have a gl 83 zx with digital dash and all the bells and whisles but a sbc and turbo 350 trand i finally got the shift points where i want them i guess going from five speed manual to 3 speed no top end. i have 390 gear i think in the rear. i did the calulations tire sizeand rear end gear and 1-1 in trans at 3rd,at 5500rpm 100 that sucks3.36 is that the better gear for the chunk i should have for a better cruising speed on interstate. My friend has a single turbo supra with a th-400 and he can do decent with a 2000 stall and still run10.80@18psi and can go to 30psi.i want less rpm with more top end. Anybody need my rear end or want to swap for different chunk. thanks grumpy for anyhelp i am a bodyman not a normal race car builder, i just make them pretty.
