  1. I bought one of those Chinese exhaust manifold for turbo. The turbo T3 or T25 will fit but way too small for this car if using single turbo setup.

My Turbocharger Garrett T72 will not fit and will hit the valve cover. No way ...No how.

First thing I did was cut the exhaust manifold T4 turbo flange.

    Then I bought a square stainless tubing 2" x 2"  1/8 gauge.

Then I cut 2 pieces with the angle of 35 degrees. I cut the middle of the square pipe.

I took the middle section plate and I used it to divide the port

Then I eyeballed the gasket and see how my mod looks

I tacked weld the flange and tacked it to the exhaust manifold

Then I mounted the T72 turbo --- it looks ok though.....nothing fancy

NEXT IS MODIFYING THE WASTEGATE PIPE. THAT PIPE IS NO GOOD TOO. THE PIPE RUNNER IS LOWER THAN THE COLLECTOR

FOR SURE IT WILL BOOST CREEP.

  2. I've been starting to do some work on my 280z Rb26 swap. Many years ago I bought one of these Chinese turbo exhaust manifold.

http://tinyurl.com/myfnv5h  I thought it will fit to the Z. I mounted it and found out my T04 T76 turbo will not fit. If I sit

the T4 turbo, the turbine & compressor housing will hit the valve cover. This manifold has to be modified.

My question is, is there anyone here able to modify this turbo exhaust manifold to work ?

    thank u

  3. I'm ready to tackle a big job. My 1977 Z was been in the bin for many years now. Three weeks ago, I moved the Z in my garage and started the process.

I installed the engine and the transmission (Rb26 mated to Rb25 tranny). It's in !

I have a question in regards to the engine wiring harness. I completely removed my stock 280z engine wiring harness except the accessory wiring (lights-instruments-signal

    and so on)

    1. I have an Rb26 engine harness, I spoke to wiring specialties - they told me that it's better for me to start a new wiring (made by them) to ease the process.

I'm trying to save some money 'cause the wiring specialties cost $495. and I already spent $250. on the Rb26 harness.

Can someone give me a feedback in regards to the harness? Can I make the stock  RB26 harness works in my 1977 z?

    2. I rebuild the engine but in stock form (piston-rods) are stock. My injectors are stock - how much power the stock injector can handle?

I have no problem buying a 750cc or 800cc injector if I need to.

    3. I will use a single turbo setup (Garrett T-72) & I bought an apexi powerFC. My rear end still the stock R200 but with QUAIFE ATB, will the R200 can support 350 & up hp ?

I appreciate any help on this project....thank you

  4. Ok, I will buy the L-jetro (MAF) 'cause it's cheaper and can do the same function. I plan to use a much bigger airflo meter like the Q45, is there adjustment value on the L-jetro in regards to mapping

using a bigger meter like the Q45 vs the stock RB26 airflo meter?

  5. I have two questions:

Anyone has experience using Apexi PowerFC for Rb26dett?

I have a AEM EMS on my Lotus Seven(powered Honda s2000 supercharged) and I like it but they are pricey.

I have a chance to purchase an Apexi in cheaper price but I have no knowledge on this standalone. Can someone give a little feedback on this?

Also.. is there a code in the block to differenciate if my engine is R32/R33 (I know it's not R34)?

    Thanks

  6. I wanna go back to continue my 1977 ZapZ project with RB26 engine and Rb25 tranny. I forgot what i need to do in regards to the wiring.

I have the stock 280z wiring in the chassis and I also have an RB26dett R32 engine/injection wiring harness.

    Where do I start?

Is there anyone one can help me convert/merge my stock 280Z wiring along with the Rb26 wiring? I will pay.

I stopped this project for about 3 years now. I'm ready to continue. I forgot all my plans & things that I need to do.

That's a long years that the car sitting.....empty heart.

    Thank you...

  7. Hi Lotus

I know you already have your harnesses ready, but if you ever want to replace it let us know. Right now we offer a wiring service for this swap into your chassis and later this year will be offering a direct replacement that is plug and play. Our Pre-made plug and play harnesses are 100% new materials.

    Wiring Specialties

Too bad, I wished I bought the wiring from you.

Can you PM and give me the price anyway?

    thanks

  8. I have a 1977 Z with RB26 engine and Rb25 tranny. Due to some medical issue, I kept this project aside for many years.

I lost interest but I'm rebounding back. I think working with this car again will be a great therapy for me.

I have an old electromotive ignition and fuel injection system. I don't have a plan to use this system.

I plan of using AEM EMS and a stock wiring came from Skyline. However, I don't know if my engine is R32 or R33. The engine is 1998 and did not come with FI injection wiring.

Someone is selling me an R33 FI wiring. If my engine is R32, is the R33 wiring will work on the AEM EMS?

Oh! can someone tell me too if 1998 is R32 or R33?

    Thank you

  9. Have you tried their tuning wizard to get you a base map built? What is your set up?

550 injectors and T76 single turbo.

Can I read your latest base maps?

I'm not too sure on a bunch of parameters. Yes, I know I can get the base map but

there are parameters I need to understand.

Will you share me your config?

  10. I'm in the process of putting back my Z and firing my Rb26dett engine.

Is there anybody here kind enough to give me a hand?

Is there anyway you can share a base map for electromotive.

I know every car is different. If I have a base map, at least I can continue my quest

    to an uphill tuning battle.

    Please?

  11. have you downloaded the FSM in the tech forum?

Are you talking about the Rb26dett user manual ?

I search some vacuum connections at the tech forum but I can't find anything for Rb26dett.

Do you know of any link I can browse and read on ?

    Thanks

  12. A stock 400whp rb26 in a 2700lb 260 Z is absolutley insane. If you have never driver a fast car you wont be ready for this. BE CAREFUL:D

Thanks Stony...I'm really excited and dreaming to finish this project. At this point my engine, tranny and driveshaft are in. I am a little bit scared of the vacuum hoses that I will connect. At this point, I don't have a definite idea where all those go. I don't know which hose that I can eliminate and which one has to be kept.

If you can give me some tip on the hoses, much appreciated.

  13. My Z with Rb26 engine still not finish. I have few more things to do to

    complete the conversion.

Sometimes, I've been dreaming how this engine perform in the Z.

Can someone relate the performance of Rb26 using single turbo ?

    Thanks

  14. Thanks...I will try and see what the issue.

Also, probably depends what type of dual friction clutch you are using. I bought the EXEDY dual friction.

    I will find out soon.

    Thanks for the feedback

Good luck with that. I am sure someone saw that I had done that over on racebread.com with my car.

It would NOT work for me. The clutch always released at the very end of the clutch travel. I have now found that there is some sort of hydraulic problem in my system so I am not 100% sure that the slave cyl. was my actual issue.

Give it a try' date=' the bore size of the honda slave is much smaller than the rb25 unit.

IMO do not bother and call Mckinney motorsports and get a nismo slave from them. After all the time and effort wasted I wish I had done the same up front.

    Take it easy - Evan[/quote']

  15. Well, I bought the 90 Honda Accord clutch slave cylinder, someone here said it might work.

Anyway, the 2 bolts does not match to the Rb26. Very close but no cigar.

I asked my machinist friend to align & re-drill the holes to match the Rb26. Done!...10 minutes.

At first, I thought the problem could be the length of the rod (short). Looks like plenty of throw.

I have not yet install the slave cylinder, do you know if the 2 bolts that don't align is the only problem?

    Thanks

  16. I know there are couple of technical persons in RB26DETT in this forum.

I need some help identifying all the hoses.

In the picture, I labeled all the hoses that I need to know. Can someone tell me which hose I can eliminate for emission and which one I have to retain for the engine to run properly.

Can you identify the usage of each hoses?

    Thanks a million.
