pckost
Can one of you experts out there please give me some help? I just finished taking apart my 280Z 5 speed to replace the 1-2 synchro. As I was re assembling the main shaft (using my Haynes manual as a guide) I ran into a problem. On the attached drawing, it shows a "spacer" going on the main shaft along with a "cage bearing" and a bushing (drawing part number 11). The only problem is that the "spacer" inside diameter is smaller than the bushing outside diameter. Since the "spacer has a small rounded notch in it to clear a small steel ball that goes into a "capture hole" in the shaft, could the spacer be meant to go on the backside of the first gear (part number 12)? Please help! Any advice is welcomed. I have included a scanned/marked up copy of the Haynes manual drawing in question. Thanks again!
