Guest scca
see my post in the jtr ford topic.. jtr is way easier but its a chevy the jtr kit fits very nice though, and if you dont want to think at all its the easy way to go. slowly there are more ford installs. benefits-- lighter, tons of parts available, and the factory injection fits nicely under the hood of a Z--did i say lighter? the only drawback to the ford is that 6 speeds are $3k.*brand new*. maybe in a couple years they will be cheaper, whereas finding a T56 is easier and $1500? or so used. Guest John Adkins
IMHO, I think not having a kit to do an engine swap is not a big deal, IF you have mechanical experience and enjoy modifying/tinkering with cars, building engine mounts, trans mounts, etc is not a problem. However, a kit and recipe book like JTR makes it easier. If this is the first car building project you have ever worked on, then the JTR book and kit really is the way to go. Back in my dad's era, guys were putting Ford V8s, Cadillac V8s, Hemis, small block Chevys, etc in to Model A's and Model T's. They didn't have kits... Guest firebern
Yeah! and these cars, at least for me, is about living the 70s! Go with Ford! Later, Fire.
Guest firebern
I've seen Chevy conversion and they are nicer and easier. You can get the JTR kit or Scarab kit easily. I found that they were more parts for Chevy engines then FOrd. Just take a look at a Summit Racing catalog. There are definitely more chevys on the road. But Ford conversions is a real challenge and I am sure you will not find many of them around in NJ. You save on weigth but it will take a lot more time. I finish mine and its simply awesome, I prefer the H.O. intake to the TBI intake, I will put more pictures soon on my site. Look at it next week, www.geocities.combern_on_yahoo Later, Fire.
