BLKMGK
For those of you building EFI Fords I just spotted soemthing cool in a Ford mag. SDS is coming out with a plug-in replacement for the EEC-IV EFI computer. Sweet! They're working on one for the 4.6 too but it's not out. US price is something like $995 for the EEC-IV. You'd still have the wiring to do but I think it's a decent computer to consider and would be nice and sanitary. Probably removes the MAF though which is a downer but also cleans up the engine bay... Guest scca
its been out for a while........ theres a separate company in calgary who does the sds eec4 stuff. look on the sds site for dealers and they are listed there.. i would have gone with it but they dont have a coilpak F system for the V8 yet. now if the 4.6 gets a system then that would be a really cool swap..... BLKMGK
Aww, first I'd seen of it and wanted to tell folks ASAP. The 4.6 system is supposed to be coming but I don't recall if it said Cobra or not. I agree though, THAT would be an awesome swap! Don't tempt me..... Guest Anonymous
If your doing a 5.0 EFI, and not concerned with emissions legality, why mess with the EEC-IV at all? I'm doing an EFI conversion on my 302-Z (soon to be 347) and will use an aftermarket stand-alone programmible system like Holley's Commander 950 system (p/n 950-106). Both fuel and timing are tunable, and there is no flowmeter to mess with. Summit lists it for $835. Accel also has a similar system called DFI. Just my 2 pesos. Guest scca
the 5L EECIV wiring is SIMPLE as it is...why spend $900 of a FI system when the ford one is proven to work well and its pretty easy to hookup. i imagine there is less wiring with the holley.... although only 5 wires to hook up the mustang harness..... BLKMGK
Ever worked with a DFI? I have - it's on my shelf inthe garage along with the harness to mate it to an EEC-IV harness. It was a PITA without any help locally an dwhile it ran it took a bunch of effort for me to get it where it should be - it had lot's left too. I tried it with the 351Wprocharger and finally gave up to get a chipped EEC-IV. If th emotor isn't super radical the EEC-IV is pretty good and actually given a choice between MAF and MAP I'd take MAF all day long. MAF systems actually measure the airflow, something that cannot be said for MAP systems that simply infer the airflow. Lot's to be said for aftermarket EFI but the older DFI like I've got leaves much to be desired. Check out the Felpro system, the SDS, the Electromotive, and others - the DFI is getting a bit long in the tooth IMO. However, I might be talked out of mine for the right price
tomz
When I spend the money for a built motor, efi, big turbo, and want to protect my investment, the F.A.S.T. XFI is the best way to go. and money well spent.
