Heavy Z
Hi Bruce, I live in downtown Saramento and would be interested in checking out your setup. If you have already done the ford swap into your Z I'd really appreciate checking it out, as I'm convinced this swap is the way to go. Thanks, Brett Bigire8@attbi.com
Guest scca
if the mounts are on the stock x-member isnt the motor really far ahead? my mounts are 6" behind the x-member so wondering where the motor is located. it would sure be nice to have it easy like the JTR chevy setup but i dont think the location would work well?? i'll wait to be corrected
alsil
I've seen a swap like this before, the mounts are L-shaped, come back towards the rear of the car, then up. There's also the one that uses the stock mounts on the crossmember, with an offset to push it towards the firewall. Don't think you get 6" out of either one, though. Maybe there's another that we haven't seen yet? Al 4 days and counting for MSA!
Guest jens
I would like to see pictures of the ones that bolts to the stock crossmember. Thats the only way i can do the swap legal in europe.
Guest scca
Jens you should seek out Dan 74. 5_0 he used the original x-member holes to bolt in mounts it would look pretty factory if you removed the mounts from the x-member that were original i have his old drawings ifyou cant locate him here
Guest Anonymous
I emailed pictures to those who inquired and had email addresses. Hopefully a picture is worth a thousand words. Bruce
Guest firebern
Hi all, I have done the same. My mounts connect to the original crossmember points. I made many prototypes and finally got the engine where I wanted. Personnaly, I preferred having the engine sitting on the Xmember I tried keeping the rubber mounts but the oil filter prevented me from oding this safely for the engine. So, I have made solid mounts out of aluminum. Aluminum is soft and can flex while conserving its shape. I foundon the internet that they made solid engine mounts for porsche using that material so I figured it couldn't be so bad. I should post pictures of them soon on my site I still have a tiny mod to do on one. Now, my concern is headers, the driver side is a tigth spot! Fire. Jwink25
Can you send me some pics too? I am going to try to drop in a 351W and would like to see examples of the mounts other people have used. jwink25@yahoo.com
